Unless you are playing on a console, thus far, there aren't ANY drawbacks. The beta is rough, but it's a beta, and if you expect anything out of a beta other than testing ideas on a larger scale....

The PC outperforms the consoles, but in sales it is a different story. On each new COD game the console outsold the PC by high percentages and the gap got larger with each new version. If I remember correctly COD:BO sold 96% console to 4% PC.

If they really planned on dethroning COD, they should have built it around the consoles, not the PC. Just saying, if that was their real intention.

Call of Duty is a joke, and has been since World at War. They've released what amounts to the same game virtually about 5 times since Modern Warfare 1 with very little in terms of advancement and/or better game play. In fact, World at War was basically COD: Modern Warfare reskinned as WW2.... which was a cheap way of scamming diehard fans out of $50. To make matters worse, most COD players are predominantly playing the zombie mods more than anything else.

Also, the huge gap in PC sales can be explained away simply by one item....dedicated servers. Activision dropped that feature in Modern Warfare 2 and in Black Ops. This pretty much killed the PC guys off, which is why most of them are not buying the games...I know I didn't.

Supposedly they are re-adding the feature for Modern Warfare 3, but the damage is done and I for one will never buy another COD game again. Besides, the only reason we were playing COD in the first place was because every one was tired of the laggy titan maps in BF2142.

I do agree, but it may be more related to being a downloaded game through Origin. However, I don't expect the actual game to do it.

4: Why do I have to watch 10 seconds of kill cam on the guy that killed me? I want to spend my time waiting to respawn changing my loadout and stuff, not watching the guy that killed me till I can respawn and THEN changing. It sounds like a minor gripe, but it can add an extra 10-15 seconds to your spawn, which is HUGE in a squad based FPS.
It's a beta. These are all things that will be killed off by the dedicated servers as well as being customized by the various clans who run the servers. They're just settings that can be enabled or disabled. I can guarantee the killcams will get turned off by a lot of people, but since there is general game play and hardcore, the hardcore servers will almost guaranteed be anti killcam.

I personally have been a BF player since it came out back in BF1942, and will continue to play their games. They always put out a great game, even with the bugs, and I have spent thousands of hours playing just their game series.

For any console vs. PC arguments.....there isn't any... PC dominates all when it comes to actual game play and performance. However, because it's easier to develop content for one hardware build, that's what they're doing. They are taking the "easy" way out. The irony of course is the game gets designed on a PC, get's fleshed out on a PC, and then they port it to a console....and then the PC's get the console version.....pretty lame if you ask me..

Unfortunately, not every map can be filled with vehicles, and I for one am glad that BF3 is actually remembering that.

Remember Karkand? How much time was actually spent in a vehicle vs. dodging through alleyways to get into cubbyholes? I love the fact you can take out buildings and so on and so forth.

Plus, it will be interesting to see if there are parts of a rush map where you can't move the vehicles forward...

Flashlights blinding snipers across a daylit map, squad members spawning on the sniper class giving away their position, bullets going through rocks and walls of concrete, UMP runners and jumpers. These are just a few of the things I dont want to deal with on day one. I'll wait.

I am also a 1942 'veteran.' I know lots of this stuff is like this in the beta, but I really haven't heard much about what will be changed for the actual game. I hope most of the nitpicks will be taken care of.

As far as vehicles go, I know in some maps on Bad Company 2, certain vehicles just wouldn't spawn in anymore when you got to a certain progression in the Rush mode. Of course, if you had a tank at the first set of MCOMS, and nobody blew it up, you could keep it all map, it just wouldn't spawn in anymore if it died and you had progressed farther up the MCOM ladder, if that makes any sense.

I probably have more than 3000 hours across all the games (600 in Bad Company 2 alone, GOD KNOWS how much in BF2 and 2142, not as much in 1942, just cause I got in at the end of the train on that one) and I have to say, even though it is 'just a beta' that in general, BF3 is probably the most impressive one and smooth playing to date.

DICE really knows their stuff. And aside from a few small gripes I hope get fixed in what they learned from beta, (Flashlights are retardedly powerful, sniper scope glare seems a bit stupid and I am not really a recon player, the lack of getting into menus through the browser or without having to spawn in) I am having a BLAST and can't wait to play the real deal.

I also eagerly await the 'Return to Karkhand' map pack. God was that a great map.

This happens in every Battlefield game that has had squad spawns. If you want to be a lone wolf sniper, leave the squad, is really the only solution. It's not like recon class gets a ton of teamwork points anyways.

The bullets going through walls is guys that are hacking the game. This is going to be mitigated when the full game comes out. Right now punkbuster is disabled in the Beta.

Also, weapons have been balanced again from Beta info and will be integrated into the full game from what I hear.

I agree with you on the flashlights though. If it is sunny outside, and I am 100 feet away from you shining a flashlight in your eyes, you won't be blinded like the game shows right now. I imagine that might be on the fix list also.

Actually I don't think I've ever been blinded by flashlights outside.

I have but they've been up close. From far away, the flashlights still are brighter than they should be, enough to hide the body of the shooter which isn't realistic in broad daylight. Mostly though it just gives away their position, noobs lol.

I've noticed that.

The laser sight is surprisingly useful...the kit I run with is Recon with an unscoped Mk11/SVD and a laser sight...double tap = kill every time. Barely have to ADS with the laser sight equipped.

Played the beta, and it wasn't anything like I remembered BF2 being. Much more fast-paced and twitchy.

Will wait for demo, and if no demo then I guess I won't be picking it up. Least till there's a "collection" kinda like the BF2 that combined all the expansions on one DVD for like 20 bucks.

I think y'all are confusing the flashlight with the scope glare. The scope glare has a similar effect and looks like a beam of light if a sniper or someone is scoped in.

Its annoying its basically a "Look here i am shoot at the beam of light". I think they need to tone the light that comes out the glare on retail and maybe even had a birds nest attachment?

The flashlight is brighter than scope glare, even when outside.

And Fen, Your laser sight is what lets me know to aim at a doorway in the subway, cause you can see a red glow moving around. I have destroyed entire squads because one of their members has a give away laser beam bouncing off the walls If you find you are dying alot in the subway section, switch the attachment out.
