Even your expensive sports cars today don't come with a manual option. Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Bugatti, to name a few, are dual clutch automatics i think. The manual is gradually going away.
I got the auto cause i never learned anything else

I got an Auto, because my Wife might want to drive it and she can't drive a stick. She'll have to somehow figure it out before I trade in to an SS/ZL1 though.

For those of you with the wife excuse as to why you bought an automatic... My wife said I was not allowed to come home in a muscle car if it was not a manual v8. I think I found a keeper!!!

Completely and utterly wrong.

Sorry to say it, until 3rd gear the auto has an advantage because of its torque down low. Played with my fair share of m6 camaros at the track and I had them beat off the line pretty hard every time.

I got the Automatic because Thanks to my time in the U.S. Navy I have a bad Left Hip Joint from running on steel decks when the ships I use to be on were at sea. Some idiot paper pusher believed that Sailors needed to run around the ships while we were at sea, no matter how much the ship might be rocking around.

To all the people posting about how hard it is to deal with the clutch: this is 2011. These cars are not like driving any of the above manual automobiles!!! I have a 68 Vette manual. Yeah, in traffic stop and go, that's tiring. VERY! And also TOTALLY different than a c5 Camaro manual!

As for the tapshift...puhleez! I've only driven Vettes that have it, and only used it because the auto would bog down while trying to autocross. Not NEARLY as fun as a stick. No way!

And I'm totally buffaloed at how anyone can say an automatic is "more engaging." Seriously!!!

Disclaimer: This is just one girl's opinion. I mean to offend noone. And my Vette I dragraced for years was an automatic, so I'm not totally against them.

nothin' personal, but you have better control over the vehicle in snow and ice with a manual!.also have limited slip which helps too!..if ya learned how to drive in snow and ice you would be better served with the manual!..just sayin!

I am buying an auto because I want to have fun and drive. I don't want to have to deal with shift all the time. Plus I am not that good with manuals and the last thing I want to do is to stall all the time on busy roads and intersections.

As others have said: I am getting older and don't want the hassle of shifting all the time. The computer does a fine job for me. and if I want to cruise a parking lot and let the exhaust rumble and pop theres always tap shift and letting it drag in a lower gear.
