I would tell the dealer to start over, re-order.
There is no way I would find a repaired transportation damaged car acceptable regardless of price. Rob |

Wow, not cool. I guess I agree with a lot of other people here in that I would demand a sizeable discount for my being inconvenienced further. The wait is long enough without having to wait even longer for repairs. Hope it all works out for you. Good luck!

This would really be bad, but if I were you I would ask the GM Rep for something in return for your heartache, GMS pricing ( employee pricing ) , ask for an extended warranty, service contract for as long as you own the vehicle, free tires for life, something that will make it beneficial to you. And if you decide not to take this car and want to re-order the car ensure you get R6P pricing, an expedited order with a guaranteed delivery date, they know now how long it will take to get this car back to you, but it basically boils downs to you , if you want to wait on another car. The transport company has insurance for these kinds of things, sorry for your problems

I wouldn't accept the car if it was me. I'd rather wait for another one before taking one that was damaged in transit, even if the repair was perfect. I'd also try to get a discount or something from GM for my trouble.

You waited this long, at the price we are paying I would order another one. Just my opinion.

You guys are shooting way too low...just tell GM that you've had such emotional stress that you want the car for free.....
and while you're at it ask the GM rep if his old lady is hot and you want a shot at her too!!!Come on. The mirror fell off and scratched the paint. If you want it. Have them fix it. You'll never even be able to tell. If it's that big of a deal (which I don't think it is since you have a price to look the other way) re-order it and move on with your life!! Life's too short Brothers!!!

If it's cosmetic, let them fix it. If it was truly structural, order another one. It is not GM's fault, it is the transporter, or the rail car, etc.
I am not trying to sound negative, but if you reject it don't whine if you don't see another car until next year. That could very well be your choice. Lots going on at GM right now. |

Update: I will meet with my dealer on Thursday to call the GM DBC and discuss the resolution. The GM Sales rep stated to the dealer that the dealer would have the same leverage to get a "special" spot in production based on this situation as he would.
I will wait on what they say prior to making a decision. There has also been no update on from the GM Service rep in regards to releasing the car from Hold for a potential repair. more updates to follow, if you have a car at GMS please let me know. |

I had the misfortune to have two of my brand new cars damaged before I got them. My 89 Z24 had damage to the right hand door, which was fixed and I was never happy with it. The repair involved taking off the door side molding, which never stayed put after that and had to constantly be re-glued. The clear coat began peeling slightly at the edge of the door as well. In all, I would have been far happier with a car that had not been repaired. It will never be right and no matter how well the job is done, repaired paint just never holds up as well as factory applied does. I say get a replacement car.

Update:
Sat down with the dealer on Wednesday and Saturday and reviewed several options we are currently pursuing. 1st: They put in a new order for a replacement camaro. This was done in an effort to see if there is any way to expedite a rebuild asap. Maybe - Maybe not. The order, however, is in. 2nd. They talked with several of there current customers who have a camaro with a TPW to see if they would switch...not likely 3rd. GM released the car for repair, and they will be doing so. This is a wait and see scenario, with the addition of an extended warranty on all repair work...need to see what they come back with on this as the warranty must be from GM not the dealer and is really not what I want, unless an absolute last resort Option one , The Re-order, is the number one option for me, I have been waiting so long, I trully deserve nothing less than a New-undamaged car. The order is already in the system I should know more in the next couple of days and will update Thanks for all the opinions and comments, they trully helped in my decision making process. |

latest news,
Got the call yesterday, my re-order has been produced , about 4 weeks from time of order. I did not order stripes this time, as I did not want to go back to Area 51. I will add them after delivery. The dealer did repair the car, looks great, but I kept seeing things, and new ultimately I would not be satified with the repair. The original car has sold Vin# 2G1F1EJ2A9104372. Hard to see it go, but is best for both of us. I am anxiuosly awaiting delivery, so I can then post kudo's to the dealer and GM on the turn-around to resolve this situation. If indeed I get the car this next week, it wil be 5 weeks...that wll be lighting fast for order to delivery. |
