I think you are doing it right, mod the replacement. The replacement one didn't fit as tight as the oem one. It was almost too loose. But no whistle anymore.

Hi all.
Iam actually having the same problem with the RX oil breather. Iam getting the same noise in the above video and the filter is wet with oil.

I bought it from jdp anyone know what the warranty is for replacement

Also anyone have any pics of what I need to reconnect once I put the stock oil cap back on?

Iam running the RX oil catch can

What do you mean by ordered a new barb? Mine was making that noise when I had the passenger side PCV orifice ported but stopped after putting a stock orifice back on and cleaning the Rx breather cap. Mind taking pictures of the part you swapped and telling me where you got it from?

I would try cleaning it well with Simple Green and letting it dry thoroughly. Are you running a cold air intake? Most have a place for the clean side PCV air line to connect after the air filter.

Let me see the routing of any with checkvalves making noise. Triple check that you have not mistakenly left the drain valve open.

If the drain is left open my mistake, the valve will hammer loudly.

If need be and all is routed correctly and drain is sealing, then email us and request a "Plain fitting" to replace the valve (like all other cans come with). Then there is nothing to make noise.

As for the breather leaking oil, something has to be wrong in routing if the fixed orfice barb has been drilled to 5/64" both top and the bottom 2 holes:
Before top:

and after:

Make sure to drill the bottom to holes as well.

(see how small they are? the entire crankcase must breath through these, and if they become obstructed at all it backs up through the breather.)

Just let us know directly if you need service or support and we can help the quickest.

Oil breather wet

Here is the catch can routing, pretty sure it's good

As you can see the oil breather is oil wet and dripping down. Plus it's making that noise in video but not as loud.

Btw how does my spark plug look

Ok that is what I was calling the passenger side PCV orifice!!! Cleaning it out should be part of everyone's maintenance regimen . . . I just spray mine out with brake cleaner. I haven't figured out how to get it out without chewing it up though, my first one got so scratched and gouged I put a new one in.

I used standard pliers or channel-locks and grab it by the edges of the base flange, not the barb itself. Picture an alligator with its mouth propped open by a frisbee. Then I rock it and twist it slightly while pulling it out.

Something like this:

/>----<\

Hmmm . . . maybe I should practice with a frisbee and an alligator?

Does anyone else notice the strange quoting problem occurring in this thread today?

Here is the result if all is done properly:

Hey Tracy, Just wanted to thank you, and everyone at RevXtreme. I bought a catch can from you, for my 2005 CTS. Well since installing it i'm not consuming any oil anymore. I've had a close eye on the oil level since i have installed it and it hasn't used a drop. I don't know how or what that catch can has done to prevent the oil consumption. (I've read your tech tips article and understand the concept of how a catch can work.) I guess i am just baffeled that it something so simple like that could work.

Anyway just wanted to thank you. I was at my last wits end with this car and was about to put it back on the market, after the dealer replaced two motors under warrenty.

I'll be purchasing another catch can from you in the future. I have a 2000 Camaro SS that is getting a turbo as we speak, as a fun project street car.

But thanks again. It was definetly worth the wait.

Tracy,
Question for you.
If all my hoses are hooked up correct to catch can why is there oil coming out of my oil breather leaking onto headers? Also, why when the oil breather is connected iam getting the strange whistle noise like the video that was posted but when I remove the oil breather it stops right away.

I have had this setup since July last year and just started to notice it like 4 months ago

Thanx
