I know the tolerances are tight so that the final fit is really nice, and that some cars are more difficult than others, but with some adjustments it should take no more than 5 minutes or so even if you had to loosen the entire box to move it into the correct place. The lid and airbox are together when you get it so the 2 match up perfectly. Something is happening in the way that people are putting them in that is causing them to not line up properly, its just hard to figure out what that is without being there and watching. I know the rubber trim on the contour of the engine bay is usually the culprit, but I see in yours it seems to be positioned correctly and out of the way.

It took me a while to attach the lid on mine the first time too, but after you drive a while the CAI gets settled in. Now when i take the lid off,it goes right back on with no problems.

I think that if people kept the airbox loose and just attached the lid, and THEN moved the airbox into final position, remove lid, tighten down box and replace lid again, that it would be easier.

That's what I did when it didn't go in after 45 min of fighting with that last fastener.

Ordered and installed the black finish CAI kit on my 2012 AGM SS. It's Worth every penny, noticeably louder in "Air suction" and exhaust tone. Great Fit and finish!
