I fueled up this morning and it showed 306. I do most of my driving in the backroads of southwest Virginia. Every once in a while I cruise up on I-81 for a few miles. I'm retired so I'm not in a hurry to go anyplace. The fastest I ever go is about 75. I got my SS mostly for the escetic value. People see an SS, they know it's fast. You don't have to necessarily prove it.

I drove from SW Georgia to Upstate NY (and back) last summer - about 3,000 miles total. I'd guess 80% of that was interstate, 15% state 2-lane highways, and 5% "in town". Never touched my DIC - oh, well... you know what I mean - the whole trip except to set everything to zero at the very start of the trip, with a full tank. I didn't hot-rod it (much), but I let her run on the interstates - usually 70-75 mph. When I arrived back home, the DIC average MPGs read 24.3, which I was quite happy with.

That sounds about right for a long trip like that.

mine is based purely on a less than 4 hour trip on flat roads so there you go, more than certain palmer had some gassing it through mountain areas so try a shorter trip somebody on smoother ground and let us know

Here is my definition of city driving: Using your vehicle where stops, starts and shifting are common as a result of street lights and stop signs, and the required stops at various locations to conduct your daily business.

Its up to you if you want to fool yourself as to what your car gets at a given steady state of speed, and ignore all it took to get it there. And no you do not know what your true highway mileage (which includes what I describe above) unless you do it the right way. Answer me this, when you used to calculate mileage based on the number of miles traveled and the amount of fuel you put in your car, how did you eliminate the distance and fuel used pulling away from the pump, bringing the car up too speed, slowing down to get a snack. lunch or a motel room, and then getting back up to speed? Oh yeah, thats right, you didn't. So the definition of highway mileage has changed? Kind of apples to oranges don't you think? All that being said, if it makes you feel better to live in LA LA Land....enjoy the ride!
LA LA Land, my ass. I know my car doesn't get 29 MPG driving through a gas station parking lot, pulling out and going down some streets in town, onto the two lanes roads, then onto the interstate. But I do know that finding out that it gets 29 MPG, while on the highway only, explains why I get 22-24 most of the time out of a full tank. It's good info to know. I'm just saying that's what mine got "while on the interstate". I know how to figure a trip MPG.

I reset all my controls at every fill up.

I have recorded every gas fill up and put that all on my excel spread sheet.

Below is a small sample of that spread sheet.

The bottom of my sheet has all the totals.

23.9 mpg in a V6 for 65,000 miles is an excellent result, especially in a V6 Camaro. This is very believable though very few drivers could probably repricate this. What I still find difficult to believe are the drivers who claim they can do this and even better in a V8 Camaro.

I'm keeping a steady 23-24 mpg in my V6. On the road with cruise on, I can get 30mpg usually but I've gotten as high as 34 mpg on some trips

Henry's first Model T left the factory on September 27, 1908 and on Sepember 28, 1908, men first started discussing gas mileage...

Can't argue with pictorial evidence. That is very impressive. Care to shed some light upon us inferior drivers how you can possibly average 25 mpg in a 1LE yet. I'm sure GM would pay handsomely for your amazing secret and driving ability.
