I adjusted the stop screw so that it is barely touching the stop. My car takes off much better, no lag. No need to have a built in boost leak. Sam

I installed the tool and the arm would not fit so I loosened the valve and was able to install the tool. I'd say it was off just enough. I now know though it's to factory specs.

I believed this was answered in the first few pages. Hence the masses purchasing the tool to do it correctly.

Lots of people have done this without the tool on the CTS-V forums... Not saying you should, just saying people have done it and benefited from the extra boost and not had problems...

I did it on mine without the tool, but I am going to get the tool eventually and make sure it's lined up right. I will not put any "preload" on the valve though.

I did it without the tool, I gained 3 lbs of boost, but after reading all that could go wrong if everything is just right, I wonder if everything I did is ok?. Did I just maybe get lucky?, am I on borrowed time?. I hope it is all good, the car is making crazy power now, the boost needle is just crackin 15 lbs of boost, maybe atittle more. I hope it lasts.

What do people think can go wrong with the bypass valve? Worst case the bypass gets stuck closed, the car will be VERY responsive especially off throttle and you will notice this immediately. Then you manually "un-stick" it and set the set screw to stop the valve from sticking. Your car will not suddenly blow up! However, I doubt this is even possible after looking at the snout off the car and playing with the valve operation. Use the tool to make sure the diaphragm in the actuator doesn't rupture because it is at an extreme angle to the arm and don't worry about it.

That is the only reason I want the tool. I am not worried about it "blowing up" per se. I just want to make sure the arm isn't at a crazy angle.

Got mine as well last week. I'll screw around with it this weekend. I'm not expecting the alignment to be off though on a 144 mile untouched car. I'll set the set screw at just touching then a 1/4 turn more.

Your post count is higher than the miles on your ZL1....

Go drive the beast and enjoy!
