I'm guessing they already have a dry track time. It's not like they only ran the Z/28 for one timed lap. They know the answer and what it is capable of.

As for an official announcement from Ford? Not sure this qualifies. The "trusted" source reported...........Sorry but that's a bit suspicious for me.

For me, without the CC brakes, this car should be doing a bit more than 500 "plus". Yes, CC wheels will help with acceleration and braking and I can't really say which is a bigger help to performance, brakes or wheels. Both help with rotational inertia in stopping and starting.

In the meantime in another 10 months, give or take, when you can actually get a GT350 and 350R we should know about where our new Gen 6 stands. And I have suspicions that an SS 1LE (track suspension) won't be too far off from our beloved Z/28.

I am sure they do have dry times. They said they could not release the best dry time as it had shots of yet to be released brand-x development vehicles.

The Z/28 begs for more power. There is more power available from the GMPP LS7 parts bin. The wet time came at the end of their testing. That means the wet time could have been on the best or final Z/28 production setup. I can create a dozen scenarios to budget another trip to the Ring. As competitive as TEAM Camaro has proven to be, as much as they want to crush Ford and the Mustang, if the current Z/28 can put down a better lap time than the GT350R, can TEAM Camaro justify the funding to go back and do it?

The Z/28 won't run the Lightning Lap again. Our best bet is a Head 2 Head with Randy Pobst driving them.

"Our best bet"? Do you work for GM? If so any hint as to when we'll officially see the new cars?

No, just an enthusiast. I said our best bet meaning for a comparison between the Z/28 and GT350R. The Z won't run Lightning Lap again because it won't be new or changed.

So just a Chevy guy, gotcha. I'm am so impatient with regard to the release of the new Camaro as I really want to see how it and the Mustang stack up against other cars I'm considering. I always felt that if the post ZL1 offerings had been out when I last went shopping, one may have ended up in the garage.

Finding out actual lap times is like watching a game of who blinks first.

Wasn't the Z/28 spied on the ring along with the sixth gen? They're just giving Ford a chance to play but they'll have to release the dry time before the fifth gen is officially done.
