Ford is doing a great job in letting this leak at this point to build up excitement just as Gm did with the Camaro. THe Mustang GT currently is doing well in the car mag's vs the Camaro and this will make it faster without a doubt. However Ford is making a big mistake by not re-designing the Mustang completely so that it can compete with the Camaro in the looks dept. The Camaro certainly wins in that category..

It made sense for GM to leak Camaro news though. Ford is trying to keep future Mustangs under wraps to avoid killing the sales of the current 2010. No one will buy it if everyone knows much better things are coming next year.

Well, GM certainly won't be changing platforms after 2 years. I would expect an increase in power for the Camaro to at least match the Mustang performance. Glad to see Ford appears to be making things interesting.

I dont think Chevy will boost the power just to match the mustang. Sorry, but they are already struggling to keep the gas guzzler tax at bay.

This is good news, boys. Each year the cars competing will try to outdo each other. The consumer wins!

Surely you realize that there will always be something newer, quicker, etc. Don't sweat it, just keep customizing your ride.

I know they wont, they could be looking at 2015/2017 for the 50th to downsize if CAFE doesn't require them to rework the Camaro already. Not saying that it NEEDS to be done, but with the EPA and NHTSAA the way they are..

It needs to be considered at the very least.

The new motor can have all the horsepower in the world, but what kind of Torque numbers are we talking about here?

The Coyote puts out around 400 both in hp and torque. Not sure about the 3.7.
