Well, waiting on the trucking company to deliver the Recaros! Ugh, the wait... 'Patience is a virtue. Not now it's not' ... from the Mummy (Brenden Fraser version).
Anyway, cleaned up the engine bay. Fixed my catch can... needed to reroute the hoses. Ordered a new ZL1 vent line for the valve covers. Fixed a little 'click' from the driver's side brake dam, on a hard right turn, would hit a wheel weight...go figure... Gonna try and get ready for another track day...will need to see what's coming up... -Don

Recaros!
Recaros are in! Taking the seats out was EASY. Took about 15 minutes to get them out. I spent more time unboxing the Recaros!
Rich (ZL1C7) knows how to box and ship things! These came UPS and there was NO WAY they could mess this up -- unless the flipped it upside down. These seats were strapped down good! How they were shipped: ![]() ![]() Drivers seat out (and area getting a cleaning): ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Now the specs from the manual: ![]() ![]() It didn't say, but I used RED loctite on the bolts and torqued to 33 ft lbs -- yep, that's what it says... after cleaning and detailing with Adams, here they are IN! Drivers only first: ![]() Both!: ![]() ![]() Tested everything before I bolted them down -- now, the passenger's side is FULL POWER -- nice! Took it for a drive -- love them! Now getting used to them -- funny how 'tuned' in to the car you get... -Don

Z/28 Crew outing
Went out with the Z/28 crew (Z Crew) and had a blast -- Stopped @ Rock n Brews for breakfast (Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley of Kiss own it). They have a great breakfast...
Headed out afterwards to Sanger and took the back roads to the new Brewery in McKinney (Tupp's Brewery). Cool place -- no restaurant but, has onsite food truck -- inside music and -- beer! Very cool place... Anyway, its rare to see a Z/28 in the wild -- image seeing 6 (7 if Mark_Z28 made it ;o) at the same time! Yep -- very cool group of folks... Rich brought out his WS6 Trans Am -- now that is a blast to see -- very cool car. Some shots from today: Rock n Brews: ![]() ![]() Tupps: ![]() These guys are finally putting on some miles! The Recaros are AWESOME! I'm not a small guy but, these seats were beyond what I thought they would be like -- could be they are partially broken in yet, I love them! So glad to get them finally -- wow, I'm betting I'll feel a lot more secure when racing now -- adding the cg-loc too... Can't wait to track it now! -Don

Damn! All the drivers edge 3.1 groups sold out already for November (non-solo)... figures...
Bought an ZL1 Alcantara auto steering wheel.. The leather one is too slick for road racing -- at least in my hands anyway... will have that in the next week. Doing some logging... found the alcohol content goes from 79% to 0% around 5k rpm -- AFR is still commanded between 8.75 and 10.25. No KR, no DTCs -- looks totally electrical. Checking the wiring to see if a wire is pinched or not. Moved the connector from one coil to another... still did it. I ordered a new harness from Dave @ DSX (this is not something wrong with his work, I had to splice into the harness to test, so, rather make sure 100%) -- he's great to work with. What can I say, ah the fun of modding... -Don

I did ;o), I think a wire pinched or, heat related due to where I have the sensor. This sensor, I bought from a GM dealer when the last one went out. I have a pass through obdll Bluetooth unit coming so I can do some testing/logging. I can use my phone to monitor alcohol content while I log with hp tuners as I fiddle with the wiring and sensor....
Dave did sent me a replacement so I have that one also... Gm has had issues with the flex fuel sensors in the past... looking to see if any where heat related... -Don

Flex Fuel Sensor Issue 2
As a precaution -- since this sensor is so close to the headers, I added the Kevlar aluminized shielding to the back of the sensor -- this is to help not only with the heat from the headers, but, heat from the SS Fuel line that runs right behind the sensor. Also, I'm going to 'immobilize' the sensor so it does not move around:
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() so, that should be a testable item now -- if the sensor did not fry from the heat ;o). I'll give this a go, and should have my harness by Wednesday to verify if this does not fix it -- if after the harness it still does it, I do have a new flex fuel sensor to install -- glad I have that! what is odd is the fact I tripped no DTC. I fill up the car after every drive so none of the fuel has been there too long. In fact, I drove almost all of the E85 out Saturday -- then filled up again (same place though). If water was in it, I'd expect to see closer to 100% -- going to zero is the exact opposite... Good Youtube on flex fuel sensors: E85: -Don

Wonder if it could be fitted around the fuel tank somewhere

But. But. If you 'immobilize' that sensor you'll have the proverbial unstoppable force meeting the immovable object and the universe will explode!
NOOOOOO. Don't do it! ![]() Yer gonna kill us all you crazy old man! ![]()
