I'm hoping we'll see the Camaro shed a little bit of weight, a track pack option of some sort, and a more aggressive gear option of some sort.
They will not be able to address the weight issue until the all-new 6th gen emerges. There is no way to remove 300-400 pounds from the current design.

They did. GM made just under fifty 1983 Corvettes (though none made it to a showroom), and the only one still around is at the museum in Bowling Green. That's how they can claim a 50th.

According to you.

but either way I doubt there will be a second gen inspired Camaro. I really dont think that would be the smart hing to do for GM. A brand new design would be better

Getting kinda off topic here with the Camaro banter. Made a new topic for it in the vein of Milk's comment:

"I really dont think that would be the smart hing to do for GM. A brand new design would be better."

While I'd like to see the second generation bring some cues into a new Camaro, let's not rush the GM design team. They have a hit with this current design, and it would be foolish to encourage GM to throw it away for some vague desire for a Camaro designed after another past car. Besides, GM insiders already debated over this issue and came to the conclusion that a comeback Camaro is best suited in first generation-inspired designs. Those designs fit better with current market trends and other popular cars, including the 300, Mustang, Charger, and Challenger. The look of an angular car with a fresh interior and classic lines is the trend of the day. The second generation had some curves that would require some significant changes to the front half of the car.

Let's not push GM designers. They're brilliant, and they can do a great job without any suggestions from us.

GM needs to realize that the best cars are the ones that redefine the standard, not attempt to re-live it.... The 5th Gen Camaro was a smash hit, but the 6th gen should be something completely new.

The stang is the same car they've had for years, sure, a little tweek here and there, but the same thing, they've had forever to get to there. The Camaro is the new kid and came out of the box setting all the standards, the stang will meet or even exceed it for a while, but all you'll have is a tired old design with upgrades.
