Not sure if I can post. They were taken at the end of the assembly line.

I had started a thread here but I feel if I ask here, I'll probably get more educated responses.

What are the major difference between a ZL1 & CTS-V? I just took a ride in my buddy's CTS-V coupe and noticed it doesn't have any PTM modes, just touring and sport. The Caddy is still on the older gen magnetic ride, right?

I know the intake manifold is slightly different, hence the power difference. Other than that I don't know the major performance differences. I've read that the CTS-V doesn't have a tranny & diff cooler. Also I noticed that the CTS-V's published top speed is higher than the ZL1. Is that a result of the ZL1 having more down force and more aero?

Just curious what the major differences are (other than looks and build quality).

CTS-V is a billion times more luxurious but it is an older car and on a different platform than ZL1.

I realize the luxurious part. But I'm looking for specifics because I can't find any publications that really high light performance differences (i.e. trans cooler, diff cooler, brakes, just as beefy rear end? etc).

To my knowledge they don't have the coolers, the ZL1 mag ride is a newer generation, I've heard the rotors are different and I'm assuming the ZL1 has more down force given the fact that it has a lower top speed yet (marginally) more power and is lighter.

It's official if I needed a 4 door sedan and had the money I would be buying a SS in manual. The fact that it was an automatic only car was the think I liked the least about it.

That's it, GM wins!

I think it was to bring the car and prove how awesome it was even with a slushbox ... and make people want the better/faster manual before offering it. It would be a flop if they released the manual first and then the auto cos people would only complain that It was less fun and slower

Or maybe it was because most people prefer automatics to manuals, and GM was going after the biggest possible buying segment when introducing a niche vehicle.
