Thanks for the clarification gargelogic... Good to hear you still have your Mustang

And btw...try this search and see what comes up...pretty easy.

>google> gargelogic gt500

You use the same handle on all the forums so my Detective sleuthing was pretty easy.

No hard feelings.

You people do know that the factories give media ringer cars. That is way this car is way up on power over the SAE rating which isn't possible for the average joe off the lot. The factory tunes on the media cars, they all do it.

I worked on a RS Camaro back in 1989 for a magazine article, when we went to give the car the "tune up" for some strip testing, they ran it stock from GM and then we were going to see what was possible with some tweeks. Well low and behold when I went to bump the timing from the stock 0° to +4° someone at GM had beat me to it. All the companies tweek them so they don't look bad in testing.

It is a very impressive running GT500 though and shows what is possible with them. I will take the Camaro over it for the suspension refinement and with a SC the GT500 will be a speck in the rearview mirror for less cash. All those that have said the modded Camaro will be less reliable than a GT500, you don't know that even a little bit, time will tell if that is true.

Very impressive power on our crap 91 CA gas. Ford seems to have figured out how to keep heat soak from robbing power.

So you a non-owner of a 5th gen Camaro, let alone a supercharger LS3 Camaro know for sure that it will be less reliable than the 2010 GT500??? Well loan me that crystal ball so I can ask it more important questions than the reliablity of the Camaro.

Well its really about knowing engines. A non forged engine, not design for boost, is not going to hold up as well as a factory forge engine, design for boost. Now sure you can boost that engine, but to say it will be as reliable as a engine design for it....well its just bad. Its like saying my boosted GT will hold up better than a GT500 engine.

Depending on the levels, the reliability goes down. Along with the tranny and other parts involved. Yes you can boost at safe levels. sure it can last. But as reliable as a engine design for it ?? Do not delude yourself. The LS3 is not some supertech engine that can do it all. Non forge is non forge. No matter who's name is on the outside.

Yep, no Camaro or GT500 bashing here, just keeping it real. Props to those guys that MOD cars to the extreme, but stating that the GT500 will be a 'speck' for cheap and reliable is pretty unrealistic (i.e. delusional). Sure, you can mod to those power levels, but reliability will go down as power goes up (especially on a non-forged motor). The way I view it, you have Reliability vs. Hi-Power vs. Low-Cost, Pick any two.
