Masonwike, I know you have received negitive posts about a 16 year young guy getting a new Camaro SS.
I am ancient 59, and have a 2011 Camaro so I understand your passion. When I was 16, I was given my parents low mileage 1963 Thunderbird in 1967. Dad borrowed my beloved 1963 in 1969 and crashed it. So Dad gave me his 1966 Thunderbird in 1969, and Dad borrowed my Bird in 1970, and crashed it. Bottom line is both these cars my parents gave me during my teen years were both upscale and fast. 1970, Dad bought me a 1970 Nova SS, very fast. My parents were wonderful, parents were car nuts, Dad & Mom died years ago. I never wreaked a car as I tried to be a responsible driver. I was fortunate to have all these wonderful autos in my teen years. As a teen, at times I did drive crazy and was very lucky not to have caused an accident (I was not a saint then, nor am I a saint now). In your teen years sometimes you feel you are in conrol, but with experience and years later might prove different. Please understand that you have a new car that has much power. It only takes a second to loose control of that power even with experienced drivers and you are not an experienced driver. Happy you have your Camaro. Please...understand it might take years of driving experience to fully control your new ride. I don't want you to end up years later with my memories of a car crash at age 16. Age 16 in 1967, my best friend Paula in her yellow 1967 Camaro that was her 16th birthday present from her parents. The crash was not her fault. A drunk driver drove in front of us from a side road. We T-Boned at 55 mph. Paula, broken neck died on scene and I remember her choking to death within my arms reach. JoAnn, front seat passenger, required more than 800 stitches to put her face back together. I was in the backseat and it took close to an hour to cut me out of the Camaro. This happened when I was 16, and still at age 59 I have nighmares of being trapped. All I am saying is enjoy your new car but please be a responsible driver (obey speed limits, no cell phones or texting, no driving after drinking). And PLEASE, do not be tempted to drive your Camaro at high speed. I was 16 once, had fast cars, and I can assure you when I was 16 I did not have the experience to drive fast. I have been driving more than 40 years and I understand if I do not stay alert, my 2011 Camaro will cause me problems driving too fast. |
