I'm jealous! I'm sure I'm the only one in Victoria w/ a C5 account. I used to drive to Leander every weekend. Beautiful area and I never wanted to leave.

Return to Fort Hood

Hey Y'all, San Antonio native here. I've been lurking for a while but since I'm now actually going to buy this beautiful car I figured I should register.
I'm stationed at Hood and live in Copperas Cove but I'm currently in Iraq until later this year. LOL, I was only in Cove for about 7 weeks before I deployed.

Couple questions for the "Coalition".... First, where did everyone buy from and was there experience good? Last time I was at Hood, Connell Chevy in Killeen didn't have a great reputation. I've read a lot on C5 about Eric Hall at Classic Chevy up in Grapevine....your thoughts.

Second, I have my sights set on a 2012 2LT/RS CGM w/IOM Rallys. Anyone seen this combo in the area? I want to have something a little different and I like the color combo.

Thanks

Welcome to the boards...I personally did not buy locally, (there were not any 2SS models locally when I was buying) I bought from a dealership up by Ft. Worth. Haven't dealt much with Connell so I cant say bout them. Have not seen a CGM with IOM around, not sure about that combo...will have to reserve judgement untill I see in person. All that said...1st and formost Get Back Safe!! 2nd, when you do, come out to Target on a friday and join the "Coalition".

Hey I am a contractor at FT. Hood and I also live in Copperas Cove. I baught mine from Connell but it was a custom order. I have since helped two friends buy a camaro from them and all experiences were great. I had an issue with the service department once and becaues of it I know every single manager and the Owner personally. Hit me up when you get back and I will help you get the best deal locally if you want. If you want to go elseware I understand. Eric at Classic is a great guy and becky at Rogers chevyrolet is on the boards also. Don't be affraid to hit them up now and get the ball rolling so your car is waiting for you when you get back. If you want to use my guy let me know and i will get you his email.

Welcome.. I bought mine from Jason at Don Ringler in Belton. Good experience. The first time I went into Connell in killeen just after the the 2010's came out I rode in on my Harley, went inside and asked to look at a Camaro and the guy at the counter says "Well U can see one driving down the road" and laughed! I Turned around and walked out. So in Oct 2010 I went to Don Ringler.

Some people have had their bad experiences with Connell. I will admit that. I am a VIP there and they always treat me with the utmost respect. I still stop in from time to time and BS with them. Show them my latest modifications and things like that. They do not give my any grief about mods. In fact the service manager has told me on more than one occasion that they do not have the sofware to check and see if there is an aftermarket tune in the car and they don't care to.

We custom ordered directly through Mrs. Connell. Nothing but good things to say from me.

Welcome "Dirty D"!

I bought mine from Bankston Chevy in Dallas. The experience was great.
CGM with IOM Rally Stripes looks really bad ass, go for it.
I hope we all will have the chance to meet you personally soon...

Okay, so im finally going to start on sketching up some ideas for a group decal to put on our 1/4 windows. But first thing first, what are we calling ourselves? "Central Texas Coalition" "Central Texas Camaro 5" "Central Texas Camaro 5 Coalition" ?

im thinking, "Central Texas C5" CTC5 for short? what do you guys think?

I wasn't treated real well when I went by there either.

I went to Don Ringler up in Temple. Their internet sales guy is a retired CSM and after talking back and forth for a while I just decided to go by. He was dealing with somebody else at the time but didn't want me to wait so he took the time to introduce himself and then handed me off to somebody that could give me attention right then and there.

I'm not going to tell "the coalition" what to name themselves but the C5 is sounding exclusive to any other generation camaro. If that's what you want to do with the group, that's fine. I've noted it here before as I have more first-gens than 5th. I may actually get one roadworthy by this spring(the big-rat is finally going back in soon).
