Sometimes I don't understand where people are coming from. I mean lots of GM vehicles are built in the USA your 'slice' is nice and big don't worry.

The reason some of the Japanese brands can survive in the US is they have less overhead, less pensions to pay out on, and lower salaries for employees. Sometimes you can thank the idiots running the unions for never looking at the big picture and always going for more. It pushes prices to high and they look to build more elsewhere.

This is slightly embarrassing as an American who happens to have more family in Ontario then in the US to hear people complaining that the Camaro was built by our brothers and sisters in Canada. It's a quality product made by quality folk. Canada you are much more than a hat on top of the States and anyone who says differently is ignorant. Thank you for my Camaro! I hope that I can take a tour of the Oshawa Plant sometime and say thanks in person. Cheers!

the cars they make are no less expensive to the consumer, so all that means is more profit for the executives and less for the workers.... and again THE COMPANY SIGNED THE CONTRACT WITH THE UNIONS.... SO IT IS AT THE LEAST 1/2 THERE FAULT. ALSO IT IS HUMAN NATURE TO TRY AND GET MORE, SO IS IT OK FOR THEM TO TAKE FROM MANY AND GIVE TO FEW? IF THE COMPANY IS DOING WELL WHY NOT GET THE MOST YOU CAN FOR YOU AND YOURS?

I would agree if the Japanese brands where priced significantly less then domestic brands but they are not. Some of the profit should be passed to the workers who in turn take the money and by products and the cycle continues, And the camaro was made by union workers..

If Canada didn't build the Camaro, no one else would.

But my take is that people who wish that the Camaro was built in the US do so not out of disrespect for Canada, nor out of lack of appreciation for the quality of the Oshawa build plants (number in NA for how many years in a row?), moreso that the Camaro is an Iconic Car that reminds people of simpler (better depends on how you view things) times when American manufacturing was number one in the world. IMO, there is nothing wrong with wishing that an icon was still built here, but as has been posted ad nauseum, in a global economy, things get built where they get built.

And for the record, I am far more concerned at the lack of clothes, electronics, furniture etc. that is domestically produced.
You hit that on the head and this is why congress is looking right now on why are we giving tax breaks to companies for keeping jobs in the USA when they aren't keeping those jobs here.....

I have much respect for Canada but as you stated above it is just a sign of the times.....

Someone said earlier that a lot of the profit from camaro sales is being invested in US plants so I guess that about covers it....

A lot of companies are going to contracts for each job build..... meaning salaries and such are bid on for each build.....

Sounds like the Canada plant was ready to go and they are working on the US plants for the future which is all that could be asked....

What were you saying about us getting a share?
I guess GM figures they are going to sell more Cruze than Camaros.....

I do want to say that sometimes in threads this can sound more like a hard line stance than it is.....

Someone said it best that camaro is such a HUGE part of our USA pride that it caught me off guard....

Its not about all those other cars it is the name Camaro and how much it is identified as a USA icon..... so I was referring to Camaro share

Corvette is here and that is great.... moving on but I would still trade the Cruze for the Camaro for pride alone.... but I get it that the Cruze should sell more.... but is it?
