Almost 300 pounds lighter with 70 more horsepower. Its close to the equivalent of having 100 more horsepower. ZL1 will probably lose...

I have to say that Ford really upped their game here. Not only with the HP but the revised gearing, new brakes, the limited slip diff package, aero tweaks, and the Blisten electronically adjusted dampers. Will be interesting to see how much these improvements improve the performance on a road course and improve traction.

You have to think that Chevy will respond. Almost makes me want to wait for 2013 or 2014 to place my ZL1 order. These HP wars are ridiculous. Left unrestricted we will soon be driving around in 1000HP beasts. But at the end of the day, we, the enthusiasts are the winners.

Did they release a price with the 2013 GT500? Add the diff and shock packages and who knows what it will end up being?

Or thr carbon fiber driveshaft, that can't be cheap, and as far as I can tell that is standard.

This is true and it would be hard to believe that they didn't try to better address traction issues when developing this car. all these bandwagoners that are talking of switching up to a GT500...go for it. It just means that my allocation will most likely be slotted sooner.

Because people stop reading at 650 HP and make up their minds that it is better. "You had me at 650 HP"

Anyway, the GT500 gained quite a bit of respect in my book because they just didn't up the HP. But people will actually have to buy the extra performance packages, otherwise it is just mostly a bigger engine.

This is exciting. I would warn not to get caught up in the HP figures. Let's see how they compare on the track. Traction may be an issue for both of these direct competitors.
