The Seasonic PSU is 6.3" long, if you measure from the rear of the computer to the back of the optical disc drive, how long is that?

No overclock. Everything is stock except the extra RAM

Checked wires but didn't re-seat RAM yet

BIOS may have issue: I have had to restore the PC a few times, due to my desktop not loading. When this happens, sometimes a re-start will fix it. Other times, I need to restore.

I get a "preparing your desktop" message while booting and then a popup on my task bar: 'could not load your profile see system admin'. I've asked the system admin- that's me- and he doesn't recall restricting my access. So I assume this is a BIOS issue

Your hard drive is failing. Make sure to backup what files you need and replace the hard drive. My recommendation is the Western Digital Black Series. You'll need a 3.5" hard drive. www.newegg.com

What's happening is files pertaining to your user profile are corrupted and can't load it properly. Your personal files are there, but it keeps loading a default windows profile since it can't load your profile. If you're not seeing your files, you can find them by navigating from Local Disk C: under My Computer, Users, than your profile.

It looks like the Seasonic PSU should fit just fine.

What about getting a SSD on my machine for my data? Not a realistic solution?

Going SSD is realistic and will pep up your system, but most people go with an SSD to run their OS & programs off and then store a majority of their files on a secondary HDD. If you don't have a lot of files and don't plan on installing a ton of program/games, you should be fine with 120GB or so SSD. If I were to get an SSD, I would get a HDD to go with it. That's just my personal preference though.

Dollars? I'm 42, single, no kids, no credit card bill, not a killer job but good enough, 16K on the car which I plan to throw 8K at after the holidays, mainly because at that time I'll have a clearer picture of what the next year holds in store for my job. If things go south well, that 8K needs to stay close to me for longer than I thought

I can swing the SSD. Or did you mean data? Too much for ease I think. The historical skins for WWII aircraft I have is a pretty big file in itself, and then the PS templates are big

but ultimately I'd really want to then set that up for the OS, right? and then another HD for data. Like you say, I'm sorta doing it backwards AND OH MY GOD lady, either take the kid inside and smack him or give him the friggin toy, I'm sick of hearing him scream. But back to our regular programming...I have some online hunting to do right now to look at what I'm looking at, overall. Thanks guys

Yeah I meant space. Get a 256 GB for your boot drive and buy a 1 TB HDD.
