Thanks for the info. Only info I seen was when they changed it back in 2007 for the caddy.

I'll have to ask the dealer. I only have the kit part # and guides. They don't list the chains part numbers.

Yeah the special policy is on the gm vis that a dealer can run for you guys and it is mostly from not changing oil frequently because it also changes the valve cover gasket on the passenger side to block the oil some going into the pcv system only has 3 little holes instead of completely open

Are you saying that 5k miles with full synthetic isn't frequently enough?

I have changed my chains...for $999, I'd let you do it.

Yeah 5k is fine but you have to check your oil in between because it will use some because of the pcv system even the full synthetic

I always keep on top of my levels. I just feel that the issue if being blamed on the owners not taking care of their cars. I feel that with how many issues there is out there that the blame should be pointed more at the timing chain itself. There are so many people out there with other motors that about never change the oil. I work with one guy who just tried in his Nissan with 120k miles on it. He never once changed his oil. He would just keep adding it lol. Never had any problems (yeah shocks the hell out of me lol). As I said there is a ton of people that don't change oil and let it run low. I know some screw up their cars but others are fine.

it's in the design of the motor, not the user... period... I had a source inside the HF-V6 group... They made a design change for MY 2012, might have been MY 2013... all I know it wasn't the current MY when I asked, that's how we ended up with the Flex instead of another Acadia...

Kind of sucks that most of use didn't know about the issue before hand :(. I love my car. I'm just getting a little worried about having another problem down the road. I guess could always buy a 13 and start all over again haha. I just just see the look on my wife's face .

Yep, that's why we ditched the Acadia... and it wasn't even my idea... The day we got it back from the dealership the wife told me to get rid of it...

313K miles on my '94 C1500 PU (350cid). Somewhere between 20 and 30 oils changes, max in 18+ years. I've changed it twice in the last 5 years, over about 55K mi. If the valve train makes a lot of noise when I get on it, I know it's 3 quarts low and time for a fill-up. Can't break her!
Anyway, back on topic...

Yeah the not doing maintenance is only part of the issue. Its the chains themselves as well. But if you keep the oil level where it should be and change it often this issue doesn't rear its head at all or it doesn't until higher miles.
