They seem to think they can get close enough on the hood so most people won't be able to tell without having to do any blending on any of the other panels. My concern is that if they do blending on any of the other panels, I can never switch back in the future since then the stock hood would not match. Don't know why I would want to switch back, but not sure I like eliminating the option.
I agree, if it were me I would prefer not to blend onto other panels. Are you planning on doing any graphics/stripes? Maybe you could do something that would separate the paint on the fender from the hood so that any variation wouldn't be as easily detected.

so back to CAI subject!

While installing CAI Inc's intake today I noticed that the engine bay is full of dust - freaking Moscow dirt, that's just from February to November!
We also get lots of snow during the winter and in general it gets really cold, and a lot of dirt, so that got me thinking (only after installing CAI!) whether I actually need CAI during the winter and may be I would be better with original intake and filter and install it back in April? what's the experience with CAI in high-dust areas?

Yeah, sorry about the thread hijacking... kind of related since the hood will be acting as a scoop for the CAI intake I already installed. I am looking forward to seeing if I notice any difference in sound or performance between the race scoop and the hood scoop... also curious if having both will have any noticeable effect since I don't plan on going through the effort of removing the race scoop unless a problem develops.

The only issue is that you may have to clean the filter more often. I wouldn't bother constantly removing and installing it.

You shouldn't have any problems with having both. The red SS we had displayed under our tent at Camaro5Fest had both.

I got the CNC Spiral ported Throttle Body, CAI cold air intake,
Elite Engineering Catch can, Apex Motorsports cold air intake scoop,
and the Apex Motorsports washer resevoir reloacte kit, all delivered this week.
I intend to install them all at the same time.
Surprizingly the scoop and the washer bottle relocate appear to be the most complicated parts of the operation.
To install the scoop you have to jack up the car, put it on stands, remove the left front tire, remove the wheel well cover,
and CUT a piece of plastic out of a shroud behind the front grill, ( to allow cool fresh air into the air box.)
For the washer resevoir relocate.... you have to drill two holes into the air box.
The TB and the cold air system are true bolt ons ( you do need a hair dryer or heat gun to melt a piece of plastic on the cold air system.)
I hope this helps anyone thinking bout doing these performance upgrades.

TB and CAI are true bolt-ons. I installed both and did not need to melt any plastic... not sure what you are talking about there. And yes, the Scoop and WW replacement are much more complicated, but not particularly difficult, just a little more time consuming.

He's referring to the heat shrink tube. I used a heat gun to melt mine, but the instructions state that a hair dryer will work as well.

Is that something unique to the V8? I don't think there was anything I needed to heat shrink when I did my installation.

Yeah Colonel, there is this heat shrink that gets melted onto a tube that plugs into the intake tube.

IIRC, on the V6 doesn't have it.

Installed my Vmax TB, CAI cai, and Apex scoop and washer resevoir relocate kit this week.
Looks really good and I can feel an improvement in throttle response and power.
Still not getting the neck snapping torque I was hoping for.
The car is soooooo smooth.
I feel like I'm driving a Cadillac... A Cadillac wth a loud exhaust..
But a Caddy none-the-less.
