Also I think you have to get it appraised after all the repairs are done... I would suggest you get someone to do it rather then the insurance company that has to pay for it because they will probably low ball you

I'm sorry this happened Brother. I wish you and your Camaro a speedy recovery. I am impressed by your self control, because if this was me, the Camaro wouldn't be the only thing going to the hospital.
Best of luck, Scott (Mormegil) |

Man... glad your not hurt, though proof that GM made some real muscle in the Camaro though... and the way the air bags deployed looks like your Camaro loved you man. lol.
Hopefully insurance clams it's totaled like you said and you get another, but I'm sure it can be done. But as far as the other driver I would have jumped out of the passenger door and done 100x the damage on my Camaro had it been me... lol. |

Just a FYI for everyone reading this thread. Dont take this the wrong way just trying to give out some info. The front quarter panel as it has been called is actually a Fender.Quarter panels are in the rear. And as for the "frame" being bent, not possible since the Camaro does not have a frame. It is a unibody construction. Camaros have never had frames so to speak. Now they used to have a subframe in the front of the vehicle which held the suspension and Engine. The 2010 model has a cradle in the front which holds the suspension and engine. It bolts on and can be replaced in the event it gets bent in a accident. The side airbag curtain will not cost anywhere near $10,000. I would speculate around the $400 to $800 dollar range. The car may need a airbag control module also and possible a side impact sensor.
And in closing I would like to say that no this car is not anywhere near a total from what I could see in the photos. Good luck with the repair and rest assured if done properly it will be like new again! |

huh weird? i just had mine repaired froma rear end collision and it had 4.5 hours on the bill for frame repair, not to mention i watched them put it on the frame machine to pull it back in spec so i believe you may be incorrect, also if you pop the hood and look on the left side of the engine comp on the bottem you can see the frame there with a sticker on it with your vin that says front frame assy, just someone whos been there

Sorry to hear about your accident, but very glad you are OK! I don't know what people think when they get into cars. They are not toys and are dangerous. It is a privilege to drive not a right and people need to pay alot more attention when they are behind the wheel. Especially when Camaro drivers are in the area.
, hope all goes well with the repairs.

There could be damage to the unibody rails which would require measuring and pulling which could show up as frame repair on a estimate. My estimating software seperates the two but other software might not. For all those reading this post and my other post Please know I am just trying to give hopefully helpful info not meant to be preachy or offensive.

I worked as an estimator for many years, there is such a thing as diminished value. It's subjective, yes, but a real problem that should be addressed by the insurance company. You have it wrong- the diminished value is not for what it's worth 30 years from now since it's wrecked, insurance companies don't work like that. It's for diminished value at the very moment it's repaired. Your car can be fixed as good as new, but it will never be "new" again.
Imagine this- 2 cars sitting on a car lot, identical miles (in your case 790), indentical color, options, etc. Say you are going to buy one of those cars. One is brand new, never wrecked and the other has been in an accident with air bag deployment (thats the kicker) and repaired to the tune of $10,000. Which car would you choose? The one not wrecked. Would you expect to pay the same for both? No. The difference in price is the diminshed value. This type of damage WILL show up on a CarFax report, which does affect value. Insurance companies report this damage themselves (bring that point up). This is important on such a new car (to me). You need to do this yourself. Call the adjuster, don't have your insurance guy do it, he won't ever do it. You call the adjuster yourself and demand diminished value, don't be weak about it or you will get brushed off. If you truly are upset about it, you will get it. Ask for 10% devaluation, that would be about $3500 on a used 2SS. Do it, you will get a portion of that 10% (depending on demanding you are). When dealing with the adjuster, just be calm and don't act like an ass. If he won't give it to you, go up the chain until you reach his boss, then the next guys boss if you have to. I've seen it, I've had customers get it.

my camaro had 5k of damage and i had an independant apprasier come out for diminished value, had to deal with state farm insurance, after the car was repaired they sent an apprasier out,at that point youhave two reports and theres will be less than yours then you have to pick their report apart, this may include calling the names of people they say told them your car hasnt lost value,i actually drove down and talked to them, funny how there story changes when you tell them there name is in a report saying they would buy the repaired car at full value that the story changes, try to get everything in writing or at least verbally, then call the insurance adjuster back and start negotiate a fair price, dont let them low ball,i did get a total of 5k just for diminshed value but i had to fight for it,if there was any frame repair you lost about 40% value, dont go with what dealers would sell it for but with what you would get if you sold it thats the key good luck
