I know it would be a bit more work, but you will be safer in the long run if you can get two pieces of solid square stock (aluminum or iron) and drill the holes for the bolts through that (one piece per rail), which will tie the sides together better. Still may not be quite as strong as stock, but moreso than how you have it now. I will look to do something similar, I think, but with a slight taper, raising the front edge of the seat more than the rear, which should help with leg support.
UPP that is the way to go. And no disrespect towards anyone from GM but they run so scared they forgot what it means to be car guy, a hot rodder. More automotive improvements have come from the users than their core of engineers. And I can't believe they didn't catch this mistake up front, that seat should have been made manual adjustable and they know it. As for loosing any warranty or insurance coverage thats just plan nonsense, as is the sensor excuse. Like the sensors knows it is an inch or two higher.

My thought on this whole thing is, why couldn't we take the seat pump system from the LS and retro fit it to the passenger side so we would have a safe way to raise the seat ...

The non-electric driver seats have a lever that when you pump it, raises the seat height, or so I have read.

It's my understanding the LS has a manual pump system to raise and lower the drivers seat. ( Someone with a LS may want to confirm this ) If this the case, there is no reason there couldn't be a right hand system produced for the passenger side of the car. Also with it being a manual system there would be no issues with the wiring harness, and hopefully there is enough slack in the existing one to raise the seat by say 1.5 - 2.0 inches ... Just my thought ...

My first thought is, "ha, you're funny". Forgot what it means to be a car guy? That is pretty funny. But then when you indicate you aren't clear on how the occupant system works, then I felt I just needed to make sure it was clear. You are correct, the seat matt itself can't tell the height of the seat, that isn't the issue. The issue is that when you raise the seat, you change the amount of the occupants weight that the matt detects, and thus affect the airbag supression system.

Also, if you guys would simply just review the high level MVSS requirements that the OEMs are required to meet for safety and crash, you wouldn't be complaining about this. It is a multifaceted engineering problem that if you just did a litte teeny bit of research on line you would quickly see why it isn't an easy fix.

The 2010 Camaro definitely needs some way to raise the passenger seat, as you can with the driver's seat. It's an oversight in an otherwise amazing car. Hope that those of us "in the know" will inform others as soon as a GM/aftermarket supplier makes a height-adjustable platform available!
