solo40oz, have you been in contact with our Customer Assistance team at all during the time that you've had this issue? They should be able to help in getting this resolved for you once and for all. If you would like I can setup a case for you with them or you can call them at 1-800-222-1020. Hopefully that helps you.

I'm with you solo40oz. I'll take mine back too - but does this mean I have to keep taking it back every 5K to get fluid changed? Maybe someday they'll come up with a more permanent fix.

Well after finding this thread, I think i have the same problem . It seems like it only happens when im just backing out of the drive way or a parking spot. I guess i will have to take it to the dealer . I have a 1lt M6 . Its a weird grinding/vibration feeling .

from day one
I have a steep fairly short driveway. The car has done this since day one.I always believed it was the positraction friction plates binding as I was turning the wheels sharp backing out into the road.Just accepted it as the culprit.

Dont ignore it! Make sure and add GM limited slip additive when changing the oil. Im at 16k miles since I changed my rear diff oil.... Not a peep from it.

You'll be amazed at how different the car drives after you get the additive and fluid change! It's not just the noise that will be gone, but you won't have to wrestle it around corners anymore... it will glide around them with the greatest of ease! The plates binding don't let the rear wheels rotate at different speeds as easily as they should and the binding affects drivability any time you're turning even if you don't notice it until it's gone! Plus it's got to be wearing out the diff and the tires early and burning more gas.

The difference will be that you have someone from GM working for you to get the issues resolved through your dealer. At times we can help the dealer find the right documentation or make the right decisions when looking to cover the vehicle, among other things. We can also make the decision of whether or not a field representative needs to be involved or not or if bigger guns need to be used to get the issue resolved. Hopefully that explains what having a case with us can do for you.

I've been having this same issue! At first I thougt I wasn't getting it into reverse all the way and then I had my bf do it and he had the same issue. It's like it almost pops out of gear sometimes and it also does a crazy loud grinding noise while backing up though it's not consistent. I'll definitely check on the rear differential fluid and report back what I find out.

did you just do it yourself or take it back to the dealer? Ive had the same issues, but the dealer says "can not duplicate" which I find it hard to believe since I hear and feel it every time. Just opened a case with GM and have another appt on Saturday so we'll see what happens.
