Generally someone that doesn't like "shit slinging" doesn't start talking about everyone they hate. But you're the man who just keeps it real, tells it like it is, so we'll not call that "shit slinging." I am sorry I have failed you in purchasing a v6 that's not a real muscle car. Guess you would look pretty bad when it dusts the ride you have.

I would disagree with you that everyone else is on this forum says the v6 isn't a muscle car. In general, everyone is pro camaro here, regardless of what trim, engine, color, year, etc. You're one of the few to bash it. Maybe you haven't noticed, but the v6 is a pretty bad ass machine. OF course the SS is the best, but the V6 isn't exactly slow. Kinda ironic that you're so against it when it would do circles around your "muscle car." Might want to check your glass house before you start throwing stones. Sorry if you don't like what I have to say, but I just tell it like it is.
I think the 325 ft/lbs of low end torque from the old unmodified 5.7L has a lot more to do with muscle than the new V6. It's a nice engine and all but a V6 will NEVER be a V8. If it were the people buying these cars would be buying 350Z's and Genisis's. Don't get me wrong I'm not V6 bashing I'm just calling it like I see it. 90% of the people who see me ask 2 questions. #1 is it a V8 and #2 is it a manual. I can say yes to both. And we all know that if you say no to either they have that kind of let down look on their face. Getting back to the new V6 doing circles around the old V8 the 1996 V8 0-60 was 5.7 the 2010 camaro V6 is 6.1 and the 98 camaro was 5.2 so I don't see it running to many circles. But who cares they are all sweet rides so lets have a beer and enjoy them!

Look, GM is going to sell this color a lot. Just because we as enthusiasts didnt get our SG in the SS models, does not mean its doomed to fail. This color seemed to be the more attraction catcher for new Camaro owners. I think its a smart move on GM's part. How else did you expect them to move the 1LT? By price? Apparently price does not matter as majority of the Camaros being ordered are the 2SS's.

This doesn't really affect me as I'm not a fan of the color but I certainly understand those that wish to have it on something other than what GM is currently going to offer it on. This decision on GM's part really doesn't make much sense to me to be quite honest.

Seriously, this idea is as dumb as the idea where the SS couldn't come in IBM or ABM.

What is GM thinking?

It wasn't suppose to become a "regular production" color...It was mentioned a while back that this would be a second "special edition" to follow behind the Transformers run......and I would guess something will follow this car as well...

I can only hope that will be the black edition

I'm not super upset about the Synergy Green news. However, why can't they just commit to the HUD? It's not like GM hasn't done it before. Why can't they just throw it in there with the RS package or add it to the base price? I'm not upset, I just wonder why.

The blue saga has now turned green. I don’t think this is a good move. Going to piss a lot of people off and only sell a few V6 Camaros. A Synergy Green 2SS/RS would be one sweet ride. Hell, a 2LT RS would rock. Want to sell more V6’s offer a TT version like Leno’s…

I gotta chime in. I get it if they want to make this a "special edition", and only a V6. I disagree with it but I get it. What I don't get is the lack of RS or leather as options. It shouldn't be any more complicated to offer those options. If a person wants the options they can have them, if they want the price point they can have that as well. People want the COLOR not the price point or options. The color of green is why this is going to be a hot seller not the price point. If people were looking for a price point the color wouldn't matter.

Then the forum will be full of the V8 owners bitching about how much the V8 costs to drive. At $2.50/ gallon, a V8 is a great deal, but knowing that $4/ gallon is coming, the V6 is a great choice! Believe me I know, I own a 35 ft. motorhome with a Chevy 8.1, and I've filled up 70 gallons at $4.60, at a cost of $320 for 1 fill-up!!! Synergy Green with a V6 is a great way to increase V6 sales, also look to see this special edition pricing out under $30k.
You act as if gas has never been 4/gal. Remember 2 summers ago when it was 4 plus for the whole summer. You seem to think that the majority of people here didn't own a V-8 then, hell unleaded was 4 dollars to. 20 cent more per gallon for premium isn't a lot of money. With the camaro having a 19 gallon tank thats 3.80 cents more you would pay if you are bone dry. Given most people fill up before that point it won't even be that much.

And comparing a motorhome to a car with way less tank capacity is silly. I have never minded filling up my v-8s and V-10 when gas was 4 dollars. You must be Al Gore in costume.

If you are in the business of making money, you ramp up production of what is actually selling..In this case, the SS is outselling the V6. So you produce more V8 SS's then and less V6's until that changes..How hard is that to understand. SO GM wants to sell more V6's, limiting V8 production and offering specials that you can only get on the V6 is counter productive.. In a business you want to make as much money per item as possible. Selling the V8 gets you a larger profit. It's just like a waitress telling you her favorite dish is the most expensive one at a restaurant or push a dessert at the end. Ford has the right idea with the Mustang and did make a profit this year without a Government takeover.. Take a lesson from Ford here GM...They have a wide range of models and packages to choose from to fit all types of buyers..

V8 vs V6 in terms of gas depends how much you drive..driving habits, etc.. For me, I would save 20 bucks a month or so on gas if I had a V6. You pay more on oil as well and tires/brakes.... However I'm glad to spend the extra amount since it makes the car more enjoyable to drive. If I was worried about gas prices, I would have gotten a Prius perhaps...

Exactly. I still get 24.2 mpg in my Camaro and thats good enough for me and I love to play around when I feel like it. The gas mileage in my M6 is another story, put it this way no matter how conservative you drive that car mpg isn't good and not even close. But then again if I was worried about gas prices I wouldn't have brought that car either.

Maybe after this we will a special edition light blue only available on SS models.

I wonder if somehow GM makes more $ on each V6 sold vs V8...hmm.

Long term though, I think this particular strategy will tick off just as many people as it satisfies.

I'm sure this 1LT / SG product was a carefully thought out business decision. Although this is likely not the "right" forum for a Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) discussion, could this not be a move by GM to up CAFE via "getting back to" the forecasted engine mix of V6 / V8 by stimulating V6 demand? Granted, it seems strange to use a color to do this, but stranger stuff has surely happened before. Even so, excluding the 2LT is weird; could it be 2LT is excluded because Chevy did not want the expense of creating a second custom interior (green stitching, etc.)

Special editions / limited productions are meant to be just that and usually both the consumer and company must benefit for these to see the light of day. It's rare to see special editions in the "low end" of a product line, but it does happen. Currently, GM has some "high MPG" Cobalts that seem to be low end; and for all those old timers, remember the Chrysler K cars with high MPG and stripped down to make them affordable back in the 80's? Even the Cosworth Vega could be lumped in here, but at the top end of the horsepower curve -- it was initially available only in black.

So these things do happen and we are mostly left to wonder how and why. Hope this stimulates some thoughts.
