Interesting...that's not quite as bad.

My understanding is that the weapon is actually being manufactured by Unique Alpine in Germany, and they're importing it.

Sir mike, that rifle in my sig pic is a Accuracy International AX 308 know by many as just "AI" ,but they make a AICS chassis for a remington 700 also .There is nothing that equals any of the AI rifle series and I mean nothing, but they cost. There is the Accuracy International AE ,AW,and AX series .The AWSM holds the world record for the longest sniper kills topped with a Schmidt and Bender optic. Schmidt and Bender well thats a whole other story .I'll say this, the cost of a AI rifle with a S&B scope will make many think you have either lost it or throw mony away.http://www.accuracyinternational.com/products.php

Here's a vid

Thats really not that bad,its usually about 800-1,000 to rebarrel a rifle anyways.I would have to spend a little time behind it but I'm sure I'd like it more than a DTA.I'll just hold my openion on the DTA.

...

Where are you going?

You can have a new barrel for a rifle for about $200-$300 depending on how common the caliber is and the options you want. I've never spent more then $300 for a barrel and I'm talking about custom made to my specs, not mass produced.

We were talking about precision tactical rifles so thats why I stated the cost in that range. Its 300-400 for a quility barrel blank Bartlein,Krieger or Broughton in a palma or larger contour.250-300 to get it chambered by GAP or Surgeon or other precision rifle builder,105 to get it threaded for a muzzle break and another 100 or so to get it painted with a baked finish KG or Cerakote.BTW mass produced isn't a bad thing, remington barrels in the 700p,vtr,5r ect. will shoot very well.

Yea so am I. When I built my 6.5 Grendel the cost for my bolt and 24" barrel threaded for my muzzle break cost $260 plus shipping and will shoot .5 moa at 600 yards all day long. When I get the funds I'm going to build a bolt action with 28" bull barrel and the same manufacturer has quoted me under $500 for a barrel and bolt. You don't have to spend anywhere near that amount to get a precision barrel.

I also have a 6.5 Grendel but mine is a 16" barrel. Who made your barrel? I'm considering a longer barreled 6.5 Grendel build.

You've got a Grendel too!

Have you checked out http://www.65grendel.com/forum/forum.php ? There's a lot of good information on there and most manufacturers who carry Grendel products are members as well.

Who did the work and what barrel blank was it ?also .5 MOA is pretty much the standard for factory rifles such as this and 600 is a warm up at best for a 6.5,but I know some shooters dont have a 1,000 yard range 10 min. away. Most shoot better,I sold a AIAE MK1 not to long ago that I shot 1/10-1/16 MOA from 200 and beyond and it was factory untouched.I did load the ammo,190gr. berger vld's and VV N550.Even shot a clover leaf toughing 4 shot group @ 400 and all my shooting is prone with a bi-pod rear bag.

I'm a member at 6.5 Grendel forum and probably spend more time there than on this forum. Got to admit Guns & Camaro just go great together.
