They haven't announced dollar figures, I think saying that it will be $35k is significantly premature. Particularly since the current v6 starts at ~$21k for both Camaro and Mustang.

Good for Mustang.

As far as the assumptions that weight and cost will remain the same: I'll believe it when they release it that way.

haha, no I was only assuming that it would cost about 35k for a top model v6 Mustang with all the performance upgrades vs. the 2009 v6 Mustang. I compared the top model Stang '09 v6 to my 2LT/RS/AUTO 33k with t, t, and l with road hazzard plus $500(tint, pin stripes, one year car wash, door edge gaurds, and bow tie vinyl) and it came out to about 36k after t, t, and l no road hazzard or anything else! The only thing Ford had to offer over GM was a touch screen navi system. As stated above power, styling, appearance, performance, features, and fuel economy were all Camaro's strong points.

Even if they do get the power in production models what about the most important thing to the average consumer, the Fuel Economy! You really think a 3.7l will get 29+ mpg vs. the 3.6l direct injection! I doubt it, highly! So nothing to be intimidated about. There was no use of even posting this. So what if they do succeed? With the price difference in a 35k+ v6 Mustang and my amazing 33k after t ,t ,and l 2LT/RS/AUTO 2010 Camaro I will just add a few mods like a CAI for the. remaining price difference and outsource the Rustang!!! I will end up with better performance and better fuel econ than Ford could ever give me for the price of their piece of crap!
While I am Chevy through and through, if GM can put a 304HP V6 into the base camaro and start it around 22K, then thinking ford will charge 35K for a engine that is pretty similar I think is a little off. I am guessing that they would know better. That said, imo.... Current V6 mustang owners and Mustang GT owners get to see for the first time just how much Ford has been holding back on them, if I bought a 200 HP V6 for 22K and then went back to the dealer that next week to find 315 HP V6's on the lot for around the same price as an example, I'd be pretty ticked off.

This is why ford people should be in love with the Camaro, it did what no other car could make ford do, make them change the mustang....Rapidly too I might add....

The V6 Mustang will not be $35k lol. Pricing will be comparable with the V6 Camaro. Same with the SS and GT. You can't honestly believe that Ford would be dumb enough to realse a V6 that costs as much as a V8 Camaro and wont even be able to compete with the V8. Be realistic, seriously...come on people. Pony wars are back baby!

I totally get what you are saying about GM rattling Ford's cage and waking them up. They bought the bite back in every dog that has its paws in the auto industry. But, I am not comparing base models here bub. I am comparing the best mustang v6 to my top model 2LT/RS/Auto(v6) incase you didn't catch that, lol jk. I wouldn't buy a base model of anything I would buy the best model of the most uncompromising engine. Catch my drift on the assumption of 35k! On top of all that Ford is worse about 'market value adjustments '. I went to a ford dealership after ordering my Camaro just to see what they had to offer and 2.5k markup is the first thing that came out of the dealers mouth. His face changed shapes after I told him I was buying a Camaro and had just ordered. He didn't even believe what I was getting for the price I was getting it for.

( 3401LB for mustang v6 ) lb, the 3.7 weighs 100 pounds less than 4.0 v6 so it could get even lighter,
the next step is to see what ford does in terms of gearing, The Camaro's gearing is relatively long, so we'll see where Ford chooses to go.

315 hp + 3300-3400 LB =

They're adding over a hundred hp, expect that to include more than just a different engine.
