Go to that dealership with a bunch of friends with protest signs the day they do the Camaro REVEAL in May. And tell everyone your story. Who knows maybe a news outlet might take up your story. You may not get your car but you will at least cost them some future sales!

Protesting at the dealer can work, especially if you tell the dealer your plans beforehand. Also inform the dealer "beforehand" you plan to contact the local news media about their sales policy and your upcoming protest at the dealer. In this economy it may work. I once used this on a home builder- as soon as their name was in the newspaper I got action and fast !.

Good advice...the last thing the dealer needs is negative 'press' with the way car sales are going.

I wouldn't just threaten the May reveal...let the General Manger AND franchise owner know you plan on showing up every Saturday morning for a couple of hours.

Every time I see the title of this thread, I see RED. It just ain't right, it ain't fair, and it sure as heck ain't an honest way to make a living. Oh sheesh! I forgot. We ARE talking about car dealers. (no offense to the good guys out there).

Your dealer clearly likes to take advantage of their customers. But to them, their customers aren't customers, they are suckers, b/c that't the kind of treatment they are being dealt. It's beyond me how places like this can even BE in business in the first place.

If GM does anything about the phony sold order, they will prevent this dealer from ordering SRE sold orders for a period of time in the future. That's about all they can do.

Everyone seems to think that dealers are at GM's mercy. It's really the other way around. If dealers DON'T buy cars and trucks from GM (orders), they have to shut down the plants and so on and so on. They both need each other to survive but there are specific franchise agreements that both are bound by.

Again, this situation does suck. But, am I correct in understanding that the OP did NOT order the first Camaro. The dealer just used her name for their own purposes of getting the vehicle under the pre-order process? Where did they get that info from in the first place?

It all sounds like a legal battle but without reading throught his whole thread, was there a signed buyers order and an order was taken fromthat and put into the system?

i believe the OP ordered her car and then was told when her order was to be finalized that they would be charging over $8,000 MSRP because it was the first they would be getting and that if she ordered another one they would charge MSRP, she then found out that they were still going to keep her first order to go through in her name just so they could have a car on their lot !!

Then on March 3rd the day my order was to be finalized by the dealer, he informed me that they were going to charge $8,000.00 over MSRP for the car. This would be my 4th new car I have bought from this dealer and on 10/24 he told me that they would not "jack up" the price on me. I took him for his word. BIG MISTAKE.
He then informed me that this was just because they found out that my car was going to be the very first car they were going to get and he wouldn't charge me as much if I would order another one. I found out last week by a slip of the tounge at the dealer that GM was producing customer "sold" orders first and they had still ordered the car in my name so they could go ahead and get it in to have on their lot.

THIS IS WRONG, The way they treated me and how they are lying to Chevrolet and letting them think I am getting this car. They told me I would still get stuff from Chevy about my car but just to ignore it. So I went in last Thursday 3/12 and put in another prelimanary order and it was supposed to be finalized today and now they are telling me that they didn't get an email to confirm my order today. THIS IS BOLOGNA! Does anyone know who or how to contact Chevrolet so I can find out if they took my "sold order" again and are planning on making big money off of it????? They had agreed to sell me the car I ordered for $1,200 over MSRP and I am trading in a 2004 Corvette Convertible one it. I have this sneaking suspecision they are putting it to me again. I would love to let GM know what the dealers out there are doing. I have the printouts from both of my orders. GM should love me, it looks like to them I have ordered 2 Camaros! Please help with any info available. I believe they think because I am a girl they can get away with treating me like this. This girl is not gonna take it!!! Oh yeah, By the way the dealer is Rod Hatfield in Lexington, KY. My order is for a 2SS Imperial Blue Metalic w/ White SS Stripes, RS Package, Sunroof, and 20" Polished Aluminum Wheels. It would match my 68!
Awesome choice for IBM.......now shoot your dealer !

That is absolutely correct. I went to the dealer on Oct 24th pd a deposit and have a copy of the order sheet with the car I ordered in my name. Then on 3/3 is when they informed me of their decision to charge me $8,000 over MSRP because I was going to be getting the 1st car. If I would reorder they wouldn't charge as much. They did not tell me until I went back on 3/13, "Oh yeah by the way, you may get some information about the 1st car that was ordered because we had to leave it in your name, but just ignore it"

It would be funny as hell if you could call GM directly and cancel both orders on them. Then RUN to another dealership where they won't screw you over.
