Just saying.
Isn't there the street stalker kit or whatever from that LMR (I think) for $6k that puts the SS at 500 RWHP?

The 2010 GT500 is only 200 lbs. heavier than the Camaro. I mean once you slap a supercharger on or a bigger cam or whatever, the weight will most likely be equal or damn near close enough between the two that it wont matter. GT500 is 39XX lbs. and the Camaro is 37XX, completely stock.

The GT500 doesnt make 510 to the wheels, AND its heavier than the SS.

Care to explain?
Gladly

A GT500, a 2010 for example, is 540 at the crank. It is not SAE cert, so as with the GT, it is probably underrated. From MT article.

"Our best run scrambled to 60 in 4.7 sec and through the quarter mile in 12.7 at 118.1 mph. That trap speed is dead-on the KR's and lends credence to Ford's performance claims."

The whole article talks about weather ect was against them, but the important thing here is the trap speed. Now with my handy dandy engine calc, @ 118 trap, and 3900 weight, the GT500 @ the crank is 601. Since there are others running as low as 12.2 in the GT500 (MM&FF) this seems to be about right. This is again Stock. From this website, there is a member running 12.5 after a CIA and tune. There is some debate in that thread, so I will use this instead.

LMR with CIA and Tune running 13.0 @ 110. Now with the calc, the SS weighs in at 3860. With that trap speed, that SS in the vid should be 482 @ the crank roughly. Considering intake and tune, that sounds about right.

Now you guys say it will not take any money to mod up and surpass a GT500. I disagree. While you can mod and overtake a stock GT500 and as we see in the vid it will take more than a intake and tune, A modded GT500 intake pulley, and tune, will easily churn out well over 550+ to the wheels. A 07~09 with CIA, pulley and tune does it now. A 07 GT500 @ the shop, dyno's 545RWHP with a tune, C&L intake, and one pulley size. Those mods on a GT500 will not run you over a 1k, and that's on the high side. Also take into the fact that a GT500 has a different suspension than a GT, and will launch much much better. It is already upgraded. I doubt that the Camaro's IRS is setup from factory to combat the wheel hop issues as power increases.

But lets say were staying stock on the GT500. IF the thread in this forum is indeed factual, and the driver did get 12.5 from just a intake and tune, then yes I can agree that it would take less cash to outrun a stock GT500 2010. But then again, with data we have (non controversy) it would seem that is not the case. 6k is not cheap, (stalker kit?) at least not in my book, and from what I understand that is not with install or tune. In the end though, as they say, when you start modding anything can happen.

Running up against a un~modded GT500..09 or below ? Highly unlikely. A 2010 ? Better chance, but as the data suggest, you will need mods, and 6k kit is a start. It remains to be seen if that is enough.

By your data, on this Forum a SS is 3860 Manual, 3913 Auto.

The V6 Camaro is but not the SS. The SS weighs 3860 and the GT500 weighs 3917 so it's a 57lb difference. And you can easily change the pulley on the GT500 and gain an extra 50-100hp.

Another data point, the Supercharged Camaro actaully weighs more than the GT500 if you review the Hennessey data. Both are thankfully below 4k, so no smoking gun here.

I would not trust those online calculators when trying to figure out HP. Otherwise, every car in the world is underrated.

the 07-09 GT500 was SAE Certified, and I'm sure the '10 is or will be as well. I'll check when I get home.

540 to the Crank!?!?! holy hell!!!!!!

The SS Will never be able to top that!!!

Except that the GT500 09' only had 447 to the wheels,

Go ahead and move along to 3:25 for your viewing pleasure.

SOOO regardless of crank Hp, say you add 40 hp? well that gives you 487hp to the wheels. The camaro has a weight adv. AND a hp adv. ...

Explain why you need 510 again?
