Yeah. What peopledont understand is thats why at first they had a reprogram for the ecm to shorten the oil life span to max of 5k instead of 10 k. Because customers dont pay attention and dont want to be accounted for anything I see it all the time

I agree the problem is on some people. I guess my point is I know I kept on top of mine and still have an issue. If the install an upgraded chain and it fixes the problem then I'm good. I'm just hoping for feedback from others that had same problem. I'll feel a lot better knowing that it didn't happen again.
Trust me I know sh*t happens. I had a 2000 Eclipse GT. I heard tapping after 2 weeks. Dealer said it was just something loose on the exhaust and was in no hurry to look at it. Pushed me off for a week and 1/2. Turned out it had a bad oil pump from factory. Told me to drive it till new motor came in. Took around a week. I ended up blowing the motor on they way to the dealer when I was dropping it off.
I also had a problem with cracking a rim on it. I ended up trading it in on a 2003 Eclipse GT. I was told the problem with the rims (soft alloy) was fixed. Sure as hell I cracked a rim after around 2 months. Mitsubishi would not cover the cost of rim because I hit a pot hole.
Point being they swore the problem with rims was fixed and it was far from fixed.

All need to realize a M1 blend, is not the same as M1 full syn, and that M1 full syn is not nearly as good as it used to be.......but I see customers thinking the dealer is using M1 full synthetic when it is the lower grade syn blend. We do these jobs steady and see the results first hand.
Isnt mobile1 full synth? People use it and say they are still failing.

Full synth or a synth blend..the bottom line is the engines are unecceptable if the chains are failing. Lets not hide it. When I called GM support a year and a half ago just to get info the customer service lady played dumb like she never heard of the problem. If its a known issue there should be a recall and or customers need to know the issue before buying these cars.

Yes it is a flaw and there should be more forthcoming info in a perfect world. Every major company tries to keep negatives to a minimum while trying to correct the problem. This is why I have not seen one instance where someone with this problem hasn't been taken care of under warranty no questions asked. I would be more upset if GM was trying to get out of repairs based on technicalities.

There is a fix check oil more often and that upsets some. I love my car so I am willing.

Maybe I missed it but can't remember the last thing you said you liked about your car if you still have it

I'm still not happy about a timing chain that doesn't seem to be able to go 75k even with normal maintenance ? I check my oil level every fill-up but I still think that it shouldn't need to be for a V6 which is typically a daily driver with owners that are a little less anal than me.

What about the spacers behind the phasers on cars with certain P/N's??
Also the service bulletin for the check valve?

I only have 22K on mine in 3 1/2 yrs.
I may be wrong, but isn't this part of the drive train? If so, isn't there a standard "longer" warranty on this part?

The problem I see is GM is not putting in a better component, just replacing with the same part. It is just something else waiting to break on a trip and becoming a huge inconvenience !

Is there away that GM Garage can find out if the timing chain is going or not...or does it have to break down before they change it.

Basically the chains will stretch enough that you will throw a CEL... they don't actually break... what you will notice is reduced performance and possibly decreased MPG..

I have asked 3 different dealers and ALL just try and hide it saying " we have never seen this on the Camaro".
Must be some kind of GM policy.
