I would suggest taking the car to 2 more well known respected GM and other repair shops. Do not tell the story. Just say hey I got no oil pressure and the car engine is not functioning. Play dumb! Ask for them to diagnose and provide the issue and what the fix would be so you can decide on if you can afford to fix. You will then have in writing by different shops the diagnostics. Hopefully 2 of three may say for example your failure was from a bad oil pump or something. Now you have proof and documents to really fight your case. In turn it would be GM who would have to prove why they are not responsible. You gave GM the opportunity to look at the issue and they physically did not. They can't say well we seen pictures. My suggestion is a comparison to like an auto accident repair cost because three estimates are better than 1 and it would not be legal for the repair to be done only at an insurance company repair shop only! You get what I'm telling you?

Just assuming since they sent pictures of the catch can to GM.

He needs to get in contact with the Regional Service Mgr.

Potential issue ... most, if not all, GM dealerships are 'connected' these days; once they input his VIN into the computer, there's a very good chance it will be flagged that he's already taken it for this issue & the warranty was denied/blocked.

There are a number of folks in the industry that have a vested interest in a situation like this. Elite, the actual manufacturer of the catch can, and of course the folks over at SEMA would certainly be interested in this case as well. Of course, there might be a reporter or editor over a Jalopnik, MotorTrend, or other that might be looking for something interesting to write about.

Not that any of these folks would actually write a check to help the OP with legal expenses, but sometimes publicity and pressure from public opinion pulls more influence than any threat of legal action. I mean, legal action is one guy, public opinion is the threat of masses of potential Camaro owners flooding the showrooms of Ford and Dodge for their next purchase.

This.

It is a certainty that no dealership will touch this claim as GM has already said it isnt going to honor the warranty and pay any repair bill.

Whats worse is the dealer who ran the OP's car without oil pressure to diagnose the issue and caused more damage (motor knocking now when it wasn't when he had it towed in) needs to be held accountable for that negligent act...

Really sucks what happen.. seems like there is nothing your dealer will do for you or GM....if i was you i would start looking at local shops or friends that could help you out with doing it your self... again i feel your pain but not doing anything about it and having the car just sit at your house must be driving your crazy..pick your self up and fix it.. i know it sounds easy coming from me but there is nothing else you can do... you also said you were not going to get a lawyer. good luck and please kept us posted

Agreed on the dealers system being connected and vin # pop up. Definitely bring to good high end shops not GM but that do work on GM autos. They can't deny the findings from other repair shops that are state licensed and ASE certified techs that report the cause of loss. Really hope any of this helps because this is just very bad service from GM. I to have had warranty issues with GM in the past with my trucks but not with my Camaro. I really look at a warranty these days like a useless pieces of crap since it seems that no matter what product warranty a consumer has its like pulling teeth to get a covered item repaired.

Not to go off topic...
My dealer told me don't install a CAI it will void the warranty, but if I did, make sure its OFF when I bring the car in even for an oil change, so I know where they stand. I'm not a true believer in catch cans so I didn't install one.

But here is my question to you CC guys!
What IF...install the hoses the wrong way? Kink a hose?
Can that adversely affect that sticky oil pump relief valve that's already a known issue?

I don't know OP financial situation but I'm assuming he has a loan payment on the car. So if there is a loan it's actually say the banks car. I would get the bank and my auto insurance also involved as they to have an interest in your purchase. Might help and who knows they may be able to help you out on the legal aspect such as representation. The bank I would assume would have greater intest because if you say f this car they are screwed the most on the investment of the loan vs value now. I tell you wouldn't it be nice to have a choice of say 10-15k off the price of purchase if when you by something you can say no warranty please like when your offered an extended warranty... Lol

I had the same no oil pressure warning twice.
First time, just had long tube headers and tune done. On the way home "no oil pressure message" GM covered and replaced oil pressure censor.
Second time, did the cam, RX catch can and tune. This time on the way home the oil pump went. GM replaced oil pump and week of rental.
All work was covered by warranty.
I find that once you for the "right dealer", things will work out right. I think i lucked out, because in the 2010 the oil pump was a known issue.
The dealer i bought my car from, told me they would have cancel my warranty, because of the mods i have. So i will never buy a car from them again.

Thought about the bank angle, however, that has a real potential to backfire. Most finance contracts have a clause that specifically prohibit modifications. So going to the bank and saying my modification is voiding my warranty is probably not going to help.
