I can't wait to get mine. They're on backorder which sucks because I want to do the ambient lighting install in the dash but don't want to do it till the yellow panels come in.

Hold up...they don't have the clear top for ABL, do they.

They can do any color but it will be black and color of choice, weaved to gether, I got the only yellow on yellow carbon fiber they had. You have to call them for prices.

And no these do not let ABL shine thru, however i let them have my stock panels so they can make a new mold and make them work with ABL lighting, so soon they will have carbon fiber with ABL.

Besides the way I figure it, the car shows I go to are during the day and you cant see the ABL in daylight, sooo these panels are just fine for me

This is just my opinion, so please don't get too upset, but that colored carbon fibre (especially in yellow) looks like a big, huge reflector. Maybe the pics don't do it justice?

Who makes ambient lighting for the dash? I would be interested in that.

At this point in time, you have to do it yourself.

Choose your method....

ABL light pipe from digi key
El Wire
Light tape
Blue Led's

My favorite...light pipe..same stuff as what is currently used in the doors.

Ok, I have an update I thought made it to this thread but I don't see the information. I spoke to my Regional GM Accessories Rep who indicated that all four colors have been given a March 12 availability date. Please note, this date is subject to change pending the vendor sticking to their date. Also, this would be the date that the vendor begins shipping to the ADIs which then send to the dealers. So probably pad the date a week pending the vendor ship from location.

When I asked if any new colors were added, he simply replied "FYI-Colors for Trim Kit- (Silver, White, Yellow, and Orange)- these are the colors available at this point."

Hope this helps. I think I still have one silver and one white in stock.

Well I got tired of waiting on the back order on the yellow panel and trim so I decided to jump in and try the modification myself. Took the panels off the doors and ripped off the cloth and painted the panels and dash trim. I really did not know what I was in for. But with patience and fortitude it looks like they will come out good. I am still working on the passenger side dash trim. I did get the doors put back together today. Starting to see results. Being an amateur it has been a challenge. Hope to show more pics when the passenger dash trim is done.

Fox, those look GREAT!!!

I had another set I was working on....pain in the @ss, isn't it.

See....I was trying to paint mine from the inside. I got he dash parts and teh passenger side done...but that drivers side door is what did me in. I said hell with it and sent them off to paint. We'll see if they can do anything with them....but biggest deal of all?....leaving that door ABL in place.

God, I 'm so happy being done with the doors. I have my stock parts in place but modified for dash abl too. Ugh....no more wasting time...

OMG You said a mouth full there! If I had to document all the steps backwards I made doing this project, I would have to write a book. 'If you don't have patience doing this mod....don't do it! The passenger dash trim is still giving me fits! I think I may give some tips on the DYI thread when I get done and suggest what I would do if I had to do it again but glad I am not! LOL!

Oh...I've got it all documented. But, it just takes so much time and patience....I don't know if I would want anyone to go what I went through!

I think the easiest way to do it is to paint it from the outside. Sure, you can sand the inside and probably get it 100% perfect. but, you can't sand too much or you will get defects in the plastic. Getting rid of those....it's like...impossible. You'd need to buy new ones and start over. Also, you have to make the dash and door ABL trim the SAME...meaning, if you polish the dash parts to a clear, you'd need to do that on the doors too. OH....I don't even want to think about it any more....lol

Attached are some of the pix I took during my process.,

You can see from the first couple of blue pix the area that was sanded by the shop where I had them painted. ...err...they painted them, screwed it up, sanded (and didn't bother to sand it all off as evidenced by the pix right here), painted back over and tried to call it a day.

This is one of the many reasons I took on trying to fix them myself.

You can see how I sanded down the entire inside of the panel...smooth as smooth as could be. I painted them, it looked pretty good. But, I'm a perfectionist...and all the time I spent repainting (and sanding again twice more) was just not worth it to me.

Yes...it can be done. But I'm not screwing with it any more!

Tag, So did you buy those clear panels? Mine were white (after removing the glue) and of course the trim was black (originals from the dash). I had to paint them on the outside with two primer coats, five coats of yellow ( wet sanding in between and then two coats of satin clear to tone the gloss down. Lots of coats to screw up! lol. My passenger trim piece came out decent today but not perfect. I will take pics when we get some sun back outside.
