Ls1 Equipped Tran Am Ws6 had tons of commericals. I drooled everytime I saw one. I eventually bought one...

There were 2 full on frontal assaults on high performance machinery by the nanny state do gooders. One in the late sixties on muscle cars and one in the mid eighties on sportbikes. The problem that the nanny boo boo staters have is NOT performance as such, but affordable performance. There are some wild Corvette commercials on Boston TV. Those are OK because most of us can not afford a ZR1. When Honda and Yamaha and Kawasaki had their performance commercials on TV in the eighties, every "newsmagazine" attacked them and the congress tried to ban the "KILLER" bikes. Chevy probably remembers this. The Yamaha V-Max commercial had a car hop skating to a car when a black V-Max did a burnout and made her throw the food into the air. When I bought my 160 MPH 1986 Ninja ZX1000R, Kawasaki was giving out a free change of underwear because the bike could scare the shit out of you. These adds were fun but brought un-needed attention from the Safetycrats. Remember; the definition of a Liberal or progressive is that "Someone, somewhere is having fun and it is up to me to stop it." However, GM does have a one hour commercial for the Camaro and it is on every week at ten on NBC. It is called Hawaii-5-0.
