Clutch started the clatter noise.
then got stuck.
then dropped the fluid/

dealer replaced clutch slave cylinder actuator.

i think there are som,e problems because shifting to second is rough im reading the complaints and they do happen in the car. but i admit i do some working on the driveline. we are rough on these standards. get an automatic or dont beat up on it. i still love it. but know the limits and things not to do to but stress on the driveline.

I notice that most of these problems are for the LS3, but I've got the LLT and I'm having a lot of similar issues. I've had my pedal stick to the floor 3 times right after a cold start. The clutch pedal seriously doesn't come back up off the floor after a start, so it's good I leave it out of gear as I'm not in the habit of checking if it's in gear... I can make it come up all the way with my foot after this occurs. I'm hoping to catch this on video next time it happens, my phone takes pretty sweet vids, so the dealer will definitely be able to see it. I also have a very spongey pedal, it feels like my Cobalt LS clutch did, and I notice it does engage at very different places every time. I thought it was me at first but after 6 months I still have jerky shifts now and then and it's getting old. And I've been driving stick for over 3 years, so I'm not a veteran, but I know what I'm doing. I've had a 1-2 grind several times as well. It's a terrible sound, I feel like I can just hear the teeth of the gear being destroyed! Most of these problems I'm nearly 100% sure are hydraulic issues because of what seems to solve the problems and just from my knowledge and school in mechanics. This herky-jerky thing though, sounds like the computer is trying to intervene because it thinks the drivers aren't doing something right. I know for a fact these new cars will actually give the throttle a nudge if they think it's too low in the rpm range. Now that's not to say I think people are waiting too late to take it out of gear, but it does sound like that's what the car thinks and it's giving the car some gas. That's just my two cents though, I'm not an engineer by any means!

I am just SICK of thinking about my poor car, never beaten badly, the clutch is worn, the pressure plate must be warped as it feels rough, something IS WRONG with my rear but the dealer says its fine. I WISH I WAS RICH, I would take a match to it and then go buy an AUDI R8 10 CYLINDER and be done with it. But I AM NOT.

My clutch feels weird as well.
Now I feel something in the pedal when pushed in, live a vibration? Also, some change in engagement point, notchy third, and at times it feels like it didn't disengage all the way.

I guy on the board hooked me up with the separate tank for clutch fluid, just need to install. Guess I could try a new slave cylinder, clutch, and flywheel?

Sorry to highjack the thread with a question. However, is the Clutch Engagement suppose to be right at the top on the SS?. The SS Manual I test drove the Engagement was right at the Top. Took some getting use too.

Also, when I swap seats with the Salesman after he drove it off the lot I smelled Clutch. I thought it was because the Clucth was new. The Shifts were smooth.

Don't have my VIN on me, but my clutch began sticking to the floor within the first 1000 miles. I'm at 16000 now and it's happened 4 times since. I've got about 5 yrs experience with a stick. My clutch is extremely soft and I've got the notchy 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd. Having new clutch and slave cylinder installed today as well as having Mobil 1 synthetic ATF put in. I'll post the results!

Not a clutch expert or engineer, but have been driving a stick since '77. (even drove "three on the tree") GM has always used diaphram pressure plates. They have never been the best of choise for higher RPM use. If the release fingers are pushed in to far, they will go "over-center". Combine that with a high RPM shift, the fingers won't come back out causing the pedal to stick to the floor and the engine to hit the rev limiter. Ford and Chrysler used Borg & Beck and Long pressure plates. These required a lot of pedal effort, so much that an over-center spring was used as part of the linkage under the dash to help with the pedal effort. These pressure plates would not cause the pedal to stick to the floor under high RPM shifts. I do miss the "Old Skool" feel of a mechanical linkage. Hydraulic linkages lack the proper feel. IMHO.

Well the new clutch feels much more precise. I haven't attempted to make it stick tho. The shifter does feel much smoother since making the swap to the Mobil 1 synthetic ATF!

Wish I had seen this thread before buying! I have 2011 ss that was built the first of Jan. and delivered at the end of Jan. I have had problems shifting from 1st to 2nd and from 2nd to 3rd. Guess there is there is no definitive fix?

Everyone claims how great the Tremec 6060 shifter is and i had nothing but problems with mine. It was notchy, inconsistent, never quite felt right and I was told time after time that was normal. Tell that to a bimmer owner.

I dropped mine off at the dealer today, have 19,872 miles, tranny replaced at 8900. The clutch stuck twice to the floor completely on me the last time was saturday I could smell the smoke. Took to dealer today and the tech told me he hasn't heard of ANY clutch problems with these and will ahve to check with GM to make sure it's not just mine!! It's chattering now and still smells burnt after driving awhile. Will keep posted as the day goes to see what they find. Mine was built in July 2009 about the time they had the tranny problems.

They just called and told me basically they ddidn't find anything wrong with the clutch, read me the tsb that's on here about it being due to me not knowing how to launch properly when I told them I was NOT in launch mode either time when it happened, they still stuck to the "this is an isolated incident" thing so I am printing out all 8 pages of this thread to show them it isn't. Bull Shi*.
