I also live an hour from Galveston, well maybe 1.5 Hr. and i concur with the water quality.
I am a maintenance controller with Continental Airlines. I sit in a dark room in front of 3 computer monitors and talk with outbound and inbound aircraft via radio about any problems they might have. Hopefully to prevent any gate or air returns.

Cool.....traveled many a trip with Continental especially when we were living in Spring. We lived on a cul-de-sac with 7 houses. All but us and one other worked at intercontinental for the airlines. 2 of them worked for Continental at the time.
