The LS7 is pretty close to a track set up race worthy engine. Isn't that what you(anyone) want in a Z28?

I've heard those were a bitch to tune and not very good for the street. Z/28's didn't come from the factory with them.

I'd like to see someone take a 1LE and modify it to how the the Zlievers want then take it around a track.

Is the intent to build a clear overdog in the NA "ponycar" segment or to build to more directly target the primary competition?
I still think a 6.0L short stroke version of the LS7 would be enough to match the Boss without stepping on any (perhaps sensitive) Corvette toes, and might be a little cheaper to build. Norm |

Which makes it a bit ironic that the original Z/28 powerplant was a 327 block/283 crank crossbreed . . . and that a 3.48" stroke on 4.40" centers crank (where have I seen those numbers before) LS7 derivative works out very nicely to 6.1L . . . Just sayin'.

yeah it's all ironic, because there is a slew of GMPP's engines and hot cams and all kinds of accessories that they have in their bins but choose not to fool around and certify the stuff for a regular production engine. If you look on JEGS, right now they have a LS3/525HP motor there for like $500 bucks more than a regular LS3..go figure, I am sure that motor would do fairly well in a Z/28..just sayin'
