  • Supercharger is a waste of money. Hurts re-sale and you can't really open it up unless you're at the track. Will I go to the track often enough to really warrant the need for a supercharger? Do I even want to race in brackets or just for fun?
  • Headers: See above
  • Buying locally will help in case something goes wrong. The dealership that sold it to me will be more willing to take care of me. (aka don't buy from out of state) If I buy from PA, chances are, I could have to ship it back to PA for warranty work.
Number 3's got some good points.

First, you'll need to call Tom.

Yes, he WOULD be limiting himself BIG TIME by offering a 36k/3year warranty and ONLY allowing work to be done on it at his place. That would be crazy, IMO. I already talked to my dealer here about work performed on my car if I had gotten the SC or added a cam. They said they'd be more than happy to work on it, but would need all the spec info and the would bill Tom's place. My dealer said no problem. Now, headers are fine with my guys. No issue there either.

Now, do you NEED a SC? Do you NEED LT's? No one NEEDS them! C'mon...it's all for fun! I'm telling you right now that if I had the cash, I would have gone for it. Sure, my car is fast, but you ALWAYS want to go faster. Having a SC only means you are at your limit unless you want to crack open the engine and bore and stroke it. Or simply replace it. Yes, you will go wide open more than you think. You shouldn't have problems and that's why they stand behind their work with the warranty.

Pretty much everyone is happy with stock. But, if you have the opportunity to have forced induction, DO IT. Bragging rights would only be the start of it!

Paint. I would not worry about it at all. Why? Because 10 to 15 years from now...IF....you still have the SS, you very well might want to paint it a different color or paint scheme. Yes...you probably will have money put away to do just that. No, it's not that big of a deal to paint it 15 years from now. I love my paint job. But, boy do I have some ideas. And, if I had money flowing out the wazoo, I'd already have tried a few different paint schemes. ....probably....

If someone can prove that a non-OEM paintjob is as good as a factory paint job in terms of durability, then I am going to go with that. Otherwise, I might stick with OEM schemes...
I've never seen a custom paint job by a true painter have any problems. Not with the new paints on the market.... Keep it waxed and you won't have any problems with durability...

They actually had two new coupes at a local dealer. I was surprised at that. The production volume was verrrrrry low. 1,500 units I think.

exactly why I wanted to buy it. I saw one on the lot in smithfield and if it hadn't been for the monopoly in the area I would have tried to buy it.

If I wasn't getting a camaro, top choice would be a vette, second would be a sky/solstice. Most likely a sky though. I like the look of them much better.

Yes, I would agree. The Sky is like a baby Corvette. Just harder to find a Sky Red Line.

It's a bit cramped for me, but the Kappas fit Mrs. Number 3 much better. Looking to replace the motorcycles with a fun car and the price on the one I looked at was pretty good. Hoping they might move a littel bit. If they are willing to work a bit on the number, I may have to buy it.......................and let it sit in the garage until spring. LOL
