I am definitely locked and loaded. 700 was easy last week, just couldn't get past my mental block yesterday. Lots going on in life at the moment and being dehydrated doesn't help things. Didn't get a chance this evening to attempt it. Made it the gym and had to leave.

And I agree it is definitely mental.

700s last week, yeah it was just all the stuff churning around in that noggin. Doesn't take much to throw a wrench into the mojo. You'll hit it. Everything will align and the 7s will be easy-peasy, which will pump and prime you to go for it full force.

Hope so, I've been stalled in the 7's for so long.

In the squat took me 5 years to go from 500 to 600.

In the bench took me 10 years to go from 400 to 500.

Keep plugging along. I'd love to take a look at your workout routine....

Haha I had a feeling...my max squat is still somewhere around 440-460lbs, I haven't gone for a 1 rep max yet. I put hitting 500lbs on hold as I am starting rugby back up so I am cutting up a bit of weight to get faster.

Well you are young....keep plugging along. If I knew then what I know now it would not have taken me near as long but you have to have an open mind to training methods other than the "mainstream" way of training. This is how my other half, who had never touched a weight in 38 years, went from squatting the bar up to 95lbs for max, and a year and a half later squatting 365lbs.

Flip side is like you stated hard to get a bigger squat cutting weight. Flip side to the flip side is increase your maximal strength and you will get faster.

I don't know what your bw is....if it's at least 235 I feel I could have you squatting 700 in 3 years...

230lbs and under though would be tough unless you are...ummmm..."bulking". The difference between a 2.8-2.9 bw squat vs a true 3x bw squat is tremendous....not in lbs but what it takes to achieve it.

You and Dznts are in the same state. Y'all should get together and train some time!

Yes I will definitley still be heavy weight training for strength and power gains! I am about 6'3 and I finished my bulk about 3 weeks ago right at around 230lbs, I am estimating my BF right now to be around 10-15% slowly decreasing, my body typically only lets me bulk 15-20 lbs a year then cut down to a 10-12lb or so net muscle gain (This is how it has been the past 3 years). I think tonight I will be around 225lbs. MY squat is probably mostly inhibited right now by my technique, and that I have never really trained a straight "Powerlifting" routine, mostly just the modified "Bodybuilding" routines coupled with my athletic training.

Dznts are you close to the Tulsa area?
