The ONLY place GM will do a truck in in the USA. The current GM T900 range of pickups and SUVs can ONLY be built in the USA. Large sedan fall into the same category with the trucks and Muscle cars. Small cars should be done in Korea. Look at the success GM is having with the Sonic and I expect the same with the Spark. The styling was done in Korea by the GM TEAM there. The engineering, you can read about my friend John Buttermore in the new Corvette / Sonic ads. The Sonic is joint project. These are at the extremes of vehicle segments, but make the point. Design vehicle where people have the greatest passion for them AND live with them every day. Th designed in Korea Sonic is built in MICHIGAN.

What the CEO is talking about is corporate politics and BS. The Cruze does not need a different control arm for every plant it is built in around the globe. In the old GM, if you didn't design it it was no good. That is the argument that the prince of a fiefdom would make and then spend HUGE dollars to put his imprint on the vehicle. There was no positive ROI generated by these actions. GM is headed down the right road. There are so many good people at GM that are passionate about the company and products it would be a disgrace if the new GM culture doesn't embrace them and prosper. I see no jobs leaving the USA over the changes the CEO presented. The result should be improved culture, improved product and improved profitability.

Pete hypothetically let's say GM puts the same 1LE suspension on the Z28. How would you enhance it and/or the 1LE? Thanks.

They are running monotubes on the 1LE We would run Supercars with independent bound and rebound adjustment as well as height adjustment, a full bush kit, bars, links, 19x10.5" Forgeline wheels with 305/30/19/XL Bridgestone RE-11s, upgrade the front calipers to 6 pots with two piece rotors and a special compound race pad and rudimentary brake ducts.

RWHP would come from a ARH to exhaust coated inside and out, then wrapped, pull the toaster covers off the engine with the sound deadner on the plenum for thermal management and a Mike Norris tune. If we went a step further heads and cam. It has to have an oil cooler with -12 lines and a diff cooler as well.

To mount the five point harnesses we use a hoop that bolts to the seat belt bolts and through bolted to the floor with a removable cross bar. There are a handful of suspension parts we have in development that I may want to add as well.

The off the showroom floor 1LE handles the BOSS. Can you imagine what this would do to a BOSS all day long

...ok, so what do we say if...there is no power mod made to the ZL1 until the new Gen arrives, the 1LE get's nothing more than a suspension tweak, and there is no Z/28 until the new model comes? That's what I'm feeling...guys?

Why would the ZL1 have anything to do with the Z/28? The cars target a different buyer within the Camaro, Muscle Car segment. They can live side by side. The down side is the price of the Z/28 will be higher than what many are hoping for.

Ben Wenzl

Dave Strickler

...and FAR more success in Class and Eliminator racing than any year/model BOSS anything...

And, for those with a penchant for numerology, how about this for my 2700th post:

What is the cubic inch displacement referred to as for the LS7?

Well...based on discussions over this past weekend @ WDC with "known sources", the chances of an RPO'd Gen-5 Z28 with an LS7 are...apparently...ZERO...although there is NO known plans cast in aluminum to cease operations @ Wixom...yet...

Pete, IF such a devise was to arrive, your numbers are pretty darned close to what they would have to be, to make the Case work...BOSS LS-type shekels...using present practices for costing. Which simply proves what an outstanding deal the 1LE is...

And more recently, Jerry MacNeish who set a D/S record in 2010 with a '67 Camaro Z/28, 10.45 @ 126.21.
