Thanks to this thread, I went out to Autozone and shelled out $10 for some wheel locks. It is truly unfortunate that people exist in this world that don't give a crap about other people's property. Such a pitiful shame. I hope the OP catches the jerks and gets legal justice.

Holy crap man, that totally sucks!!! Hope you get the bastards!
What area of Miami do you live in? I just ordered my Camaro yesterday. I am now going to be paranoid about finding my baby on blocks too!!! As if worrying about dents, scratches, keyings, and all out theft wasn't enough! |

sorry to hear about the theft!
only thing i've had stolen was a $600 bike i had for 3 weeks with the thickest lock you could find wrapped around it. wheel locks are a great security device, but they can be removed without the key. i worked in a tire shop in HS & college and dealt with my fair share of locks, but it requires a lot of noise to remove them! here is a pic of my OEM wheel locks. the kit from the parts counter comes with the locks and 16 solid lug nuts (the stock ones are cheap with stainless caps over them that will eventually come off). the lock is a cylindrical nut and the key part is laser cut on the exposed end. i would not buy gorilla locks... their set comes with about 10 different styles of keys, and if a thief was smart enough he could have all 10 sets of the keys... i know my tire shop i worked at did! the OEM lug nuts have hundreds of possible combinations and much higher quality! sorry for the bad quality photo, i had to zoom in on a photo i had.

one other thing if they are your wheels when you get them close to your car your tire pressure monitors would pick up again and register since they are programmed to your car. Just a little info

I think next month I am going to get week locks depending on if I am able to buy them. There is a county in Maryland that has had a RASH of wheel theft. BE WATCHFUL OF YOUR CAMARO. I keep my Camaro in my garage, truck outside. Better not happen to me......

I'd recommend an alarm... wheel locks are a good option, but can be defeated pretty easily with the right tool -- a damaged nut remover --- . It is basically a hardened socket with a spirals inside. As you try to loosen the nut with the special socket the spirals dig into the nut pulling the socket onto the nut and getting a better grab on the nut as more force is applied
