I agree with what Ninjak said, I've always driven Camaro's but I really like what Ford has done with the mustangs.

In the end it comes down to preferance. They all have their appeals and are great cars.

I'm just amazed by that article. They claim they SS's IRS is upset by bumps, but the mustang's live axle handles great. HUH?! The GT susposedly rides better, and pulls far more g's on the skidpad. HUH?!
Then there's the comments about the Camaro "looking angry". what the heck? i sure don't see that. Plus not all their writers like it's looks. Well that's where they're really out by themselves, because the looks of the car seems to have absolutely gone over with the public. Some of these magazines, from month to month seem to have no continuity. In the previous issue they claimed the Camaro was the car they wanted to be in , due to ride, compared to the hyundai. They also said "Somebody at GM really sweated this car's ride and handling."

One thing I have not seen mentioned in the replies is the ranking for "Got to have it!" The Mustang won? Is this because Ford is selling them months in advance? Perhaps it is A $10,000 mark up that is not even slowing sales? Perhaps it is all the other car drivers that chase you down to take pictures of the car? Or when a kid sees the cars and nearly wets his pants? "Got to have it" BS

This article used other goofy rankings. Backseat comfort? Can anyone tell me truly what the backseat of any of these cars is for? Answer, Insurance. Find an adult that is comfortable in any of these cars.

It seems like they kept adding new categories to get the Mustang to win.

Before anyone decides to baste me you need to know, my first car ever 65 Mustang 2nd 68 Camaro I have had three other Mustangs one of which was 2007. I love each of these cars I just was shocked at the goofy categories used to rank the cars. If these are normal categories I do apologize, this is the first article of this type I have read.

I agree with you, this was a stuid review, and the "Gotta Have It" ranking is biased and plain wrong..

I would think the GT is more susceptible to bumps than the camaro's IRS, so i was a bit confused about that, but the GT does actually pull more G's on the skid pad. the "looking angry" etc.. is just a preference of that particular editor or whatever.

You do realize if the "gotta have it" and "fun to drive" factors were not there, the Camaro STILL would have not beaten the Mustang and in fact would have scored 3rd........... Get over it. the Camaro lost, big whoop te do. It's a Magazine. If everyone bought cars by Magazines the last Caddy SRX would have been a huge sales success, everyone wanting a sporty car would buy a BMW, and everyone looking for a family vehicle would drive a Honda. I like the Challenger, between the 3 it is currently leading in what I want to purchase in a year. So what if the Rags rate it 3rd, it's there opinion and not exactly fact.......

Yea this debate is seriously dumb. Its not even about comparing the cars anymore, its about analyzing the comparison of the cars.

Yeah i was going over their tally of points last night. The "gotta have it" jumped right out. You have to be dumb, and i mean dumb, to think there are more people who have to have the mustang right now, than the Camaro.

Well as I said in another thread, its a opinion. If you went on a Mustang site, one would say the same thing. If you went to Dodge, Nissan, Hyundai......you get the point now right ?

"Gotta Have It" independant study:

I recently drove to Chicago and back from Detroit...At both fuel stops, and at every toll-booth (I think there were 8 round trip) my car drew whistles, nods, "can I get a ride in your car" etc.

This things draws all the attention of an italian exotic -- that's "gotta have it". I'll bet scores of mustangs went through that same trip and didn't generate the same kind of excitement. I know the several I saw around the tollboths and at the gas stations were virtually ignored by others...

I don't disagree with you that we are all parital to our brands... But, the camaro is outselling the other two... for now... Shouldn't that count in the assessment of "gotta have it"

The 'gotta have it' category just needs to be removed. It's too nebulous. I can understand subjective conversations on ride quality and shift feel, etc. But 'gotta have it' is a worthless number. At least define it better, is it a number assigned before the tests or after?

And to add to that isn't it a fact that its harder then hell to get a Camaro right now let alone if you don't have one ordered. 2010 mustangs are available on lots without waiting for them to catch up to the demand of the "gotta have it". SO that along tells you they got that wrong.

I haven't read or heard about ford dealerships charging 5 to 10k markups on mustangs and actually selling them like the Camaro is. That just tells you that it has the gotta have it factor when people are paying that type of money over stricker.
