Any chance these will fit the VF chassis Holden stuff? From the looks of it underneath my car the suspension is VERY close to the 5th Gen Camaros I used to have.
I guess I grew up a bit and got the 'older' person version of the Camaro. Some call it the granny sedan and last night at a street meet it was referred to as a bang bus

The front stuff is different for the most part,
the rear stuff is very similar, but i think the knuckles are a bit different, (not 100% on that)
I'm fairly certain the rear knuckles are the same as the VE uses,

darn.....for 15 MY SS sedans Chevy added mag ride as standard and like Pete was saying....mag ride is awesome and drop spindles would keep the factory mag ride setup while lowering the car and center of gravity. I know a TON of CTS-V guys who would like this as well.

Hopefully this is a 'knockout' success and we will see it transfer to other GM lines.

This 5th Gen is sitting on Z/28 DSSV coils and dampers. You can see how badly it needs a Knuckle Drop. We can improve the SAI with Knockout Camber Plates. We'll get the price down and release them... I'll let you guys say it.

Seriously thinking about getting the Z28 dampers and springs coupled with the Kunckledrop and selling my CO's. Just waiting on the release.

This is kind of my plan. I have a bunch of stuff to bring my 1LE to the next level for handling. Then Pete throws this out there. I'm trying to decide if go with my current plan or if I should change direction.

It all boils down to what the knuckles end up costing.

I have a monetary breaking point in my head. My situation completely depends on what side of that breaking point the price ends up being.

I hope it works out in my favor because I want these damn things.

In your first post you said all the knuckles are the same across the line up accept for the z28 which only differs because of the bushings used.

If running the factory z28 springs and dampers why would you need a knuckle drop if not wanting to go lower in ride height than that set up allows? Aside from the ball joint vs bushing benefit. If we used the z28 as a bench mark of performace to get to from a standard SS wouldn't lowering the car with drop springs get us to the same/desired suspension ride height and angles of the z28?

just trying to understand the purpose better other than added strength.

^Pete can give you a far more masterful answer than I can, but the knuckles give you an increased front track, extra adjustment ability, the rebuildable rear spherical bearings, and lower the car an inch without affecting the suspension geometry, which is big. When you lower a car with shorter springs, you lower the cg, but you lower the roll center even more, and sacrifice suspension travel, as well as some other aspects of the geometry. These knuckles let you lower the cg without having those issues. The Z/28 suspension doesn't seem to drop the car much in Pete's experience, either.

Drop springs reduce jounce travel, the distance the vehicle can move down before being hard on the bumpstop. This does more than reduce ride quality, it unsettles the car during aggressive driving.

Drop springs alter the OE range of motion. For discussion we'll say the arc in which the rear arms move is 3". From the factory the motion is 1.5 inches up and 1.5 inches down. Lower one inch and no you have 2" of droop travel and only 1" of compression travel.

In the Camaro, the upper rear control arms go into a hard stop sooner which unsettles the car when driven aggressively.

In the front, the narrower track contributes to understeer. There is limited room to adjust in negative camber.

These are the primary reasons for changeing out knuckles on the 5th Gen. Stronger is stronger material, but I know of know knuckle failures or real need to replace the OE knuckles based on strength.

Short Answer

Lowering by Knuckle Drop

Lowering by Drop Coil

You need these damn things. Drop springs, coilovers etc do not address the issues that these things keep in check. This should be the first mod and everything else built from there.
