Yet again, they are comparing the car with others that cost around $100,000+...... which is dumb i think. Last edited by mcdoogle6969; 09-14-2009 at 11:15 AM. |

I think these days when people use the term American vs Import, they aren't so much talking about the physical location where the product is built. It's more about the styling and persona of the car. Sure the Camaro is assembled in Canada from parts from all over the world, but it has the look and feel of American muscle. As opposed to a Toyota (or something similiar) that could be built in your own backyard in the US, but will never look or feel American.

The difference between an American car and a foreign car is where the money gets sent to after purchase. I know that my SS was assembled at Oshawa, but the money went to Detroit, Michagan, USA. The money payed the wages of Americans. A lot of the parts were made in the USA. As you can see, I am from Boston, as in Boston Accoustics. The radio is, I think, a Bose, which are made in Framingham Massachusetts. The main point to me though, is that it is a muscle car and muscle cars are American icons.

Yes, I agree. Get rid of the car. Let someone enjoy it as much as I am mine.

How about where the endpoint is for the dollars spent on the car? It might be built in canada or whatever but in the end the profit all gets back to american soil. I dont care if toyota has a plant in my living room, sooner or later the money finds its way back to Japan , used to fund the next A.W.E.S.O.M.O. 2000.
Back to the OP, if the camaro being 35k performed like a vett and felt like one, why the hell would anyone buy a corvette?

I have owned Camaros and Corvettes and love them both, and my 2010 IOM SSRS Camaro is my favorite out of all of them, the White L99 on here ran 12.99 at N.E. Dragway is very immpressive for bone stock car, I wish I could have one in every color.

If you really don't want a heavy Camaro you can always try driving the V6. The power difference is unnoticeable unless you take it to the track and it has better handling and braking and gas mileage and price more along the lines of the imports you mentioned or the Mustang GT that the magazines are raving about in recent comparos. I'm sure I won't make anyone regret getting their V8 by raving about the V6 but I might prevent some people from dismissing the Camaro completely because of this thread's complaint. I'm more impressed by my V6 even day and can't imagine wanting a car any bigger or faster or heavier.

Good deal on Vettes
Went to the dealer to pick up my tags
they have 2 Vettes in stock 1 coupe 1 conv with 4,000.00 incentives if they had that when I ordered my Camaro, I would have gotten one It would have only been about 4k more than I paid for the "C" I live near the countrys largest Vette dealer in Atlantic City NJ, he has about 55 in stock at all times. I personaly like the new Grand Sport Vette |

Op, I'm with you 100% on your thread.
I drove a V6 RS back in April and felt something was missing. It is lacking any kind of "Fun to Drive" factor. My IROCs were a blast to drive all the time. This car feels very GTO like, even though it has quicker steering and flatter cornering than the Goat, it doesn't have an up to date feel. Chevy needs to go back through the suspension and give it the G8 GXP's steering and remove some understeer. I don't know how this could have happened? |

[QUOTE=notyou;919727] The lack of vision of the corners of the car and the general outward view also worries me. If you can't judge the size and scope of the car from the drivers seat, it's tough to feel confident.[/QUOT
Every Camaro I've ever driven has that exact same characteristic. So, it just seems appropriate that any new camaro keep with tradition |
