Basic bolt ons (intake, headers, tune) and good driving should be enough.
There's was a video of a new SRT-8 running 12.4 @ 110 mph. It did it with an exceptional 60' time (1.8 sec). That will not be the norm. When the major magazines test the new SRT-8 it will be running high 12s on average. With intake, headers, and a tune you can get an L99 or LS3 in the low to mid 12s. That will be enough to beat a stock SRT-8. |

![]() Competition is where it's at. At some point we are all trying to be better than others in whatever we do. It's human nature. And it's healthy. That being said...... he is just wanting to be faster than a 'Stock' SRT-8. Hell, I do too. I don't want some Joe/Jill Blow just buying a car off the lot and kicking my butt with it. I'm not ashamed to admit I want to be faster than the guy next to me. I don't get bent when I'm not, but I still want to be. |

Agree with above, if you have a nice car and it's fast who cares who makes it? Go fast car enthusiast people belong to a special club and we all share a common bond. We are splitting hairs in tenth's of a second in this discussion. Who is fastest is determined by the driver and not the car.

In that case I would assume a good tune would be enough. I haven't drove a car in stock form in years. |

Dodge claims 12.4 in the 1/4 mile STOCK, I have never seen or heard of a Camaro SS doing that low of a number. Usually see 13.0 flats most of the time, I heard this one guy did 12.6 one time, that mightve been the Mustang 5.0 which was being mentioned at the same time on the forum I was at... Motortrend forum

Man, the camaro went from being the top dog by far, to now the back of the pack, by a sizeable margin. Better hope to retake it come 2012

Sidenote: WOW, I just saw this guy in a blue hyundai tiburon rear end this 2001 year style extended cab red F150 !! His front brakes were locked up and hit him going 20-25 mph, I was turning into gas station, I thought it was someone peeling out but there was a bang as well, or I thought someone was about to rear end me... The hyundai was this bald guy on a phone, he hit the ball hitch of the F150 and can see no visible damage to the F150 ! Haha, the guy in the Hyundai was on his phone when he hit my friend I know from school in the Ford, then kept talking on the phone as he got out of his Hyundai..... |

Well that's not a general statement at all....if the camaro ss stalls at the line, I'm sure the v-6 could take it, at least to the 8th!!!!!!! The Any advantage the ss has with traction is taken away with the irs, so the difference is really negligible. Nothing wrong with last considering how awesome all of these cars are. |

6.4 Hemi is faster than the Camaro or Mustang, or it is at least at higher speeds, so in essence it IS faster.

You know what I meant basically, the Mustang is harder to hook up because it has skinnier harder tires... vs the 275s on the Camaro. |
