Market price of gold as of March 4, 2015 is $1,196 per ounce. Your message 'cover a set or two', showing two one ounce bars? So one bar, value $1,196, is one 'set' where a set is four units (one for each wheel). That's fair.

I was looking around online, and found a pair of billet tail light housings for a 1st Gen Camaro. Two pretty simple pieces of billet, using a lot less material than a knuckle, and with no design change considerations, or structural integrity requirements. They're more than $500 for a pair. Considering all the changes Pete's making, the strength required, the difficulty in machining, and the amount of billet/number of knuckles, they won't be cheap. Will they be awesome, and worth the asking price? Absolutely, but the price will be set accordingly for custom billet structural components.
