Can't argue with you on this one!
Yeah, the quality isn't good but it's a huge approvement!
But I'm not getting a sports car because it's "pretty inside".
As long as the sound system isn't so bad and the seats are comfy.
I'm good to go!

I didn't expect a luxury car to be that fun.
Quality wise it's great.
It's pretty spacious too...
If I didn't care about daily driving I would settle for the Camaro easily.
Yes, I agree with you about a luxury car being that much fun...wow.

It will be my daily driver.

Don't get me wrong, I didn't come here to flame on GM and stuff. My dad and I restored a 69 camaro just before winter hit and it's a great car!
With people such as yourself who go around telling everyone how CRAP the quality of GM cars is without actually doing any research to see if this still holds true, how can you be surprised they are in trouble?

Yeah, so just find out which will be more practical for you!
Honestly I wouldn't reccomend neither...
You want a DD... Look into 4wd cars.

What was true in 1997 may change with time.

The fact you didn't bother to check before casting your verdict on the current model lineup shows the reason people that behave like you are considered "Trolls".

It may have been the truth in the past.

The public's perception that GM (or any domestic) is "crap", while true based on some of their offerings from the past, is a reason the big 3 are in the situation they are in.

You won't be able to refer to GM's products as "crap" in the near future.

They ARE close in performance...sure I will mod my SS such that the Z owner is gonna need MAJOR stuff to out run me 1/4 mile, but alot of SS owners won't...I'd really have to say probably less Z owners will mod than SS owners (to me the Z is attracting a different buyer, dare I say a more sophisticated buyer, or maybe I should just say, one who is less likely to mod...if nothing else by reason that there is not nearly as strong an aftermarket, performance wise).

On a road course, I think the disparity will be even less. All those numbers really don't paint the whole picture...weight plays a big part in handling, braking AND acceleration...if the SS brakes don't fade on a track I will be very surprised. Hopefully, it will mimick the CTS-V track experience, which was flawless for the amount of weight the car carries. Even with that though, the Z car really is purpose designed for a road course. The shrunk the car in diminsions, because they new they were going to have to add hundreds of pounds in safety equipment and air bags, the end result was minimal weight gain over the 350Z. Add that to a more powerful motor and revised chassis tuning, and you have a tighter, better handling, better performing car.

Do you really plan to use the back seats?? I mean yeah, we have them in the SS, but to me, they are only for kids and emergencies, If you dont' get that, wait til you get a little older. I mean, there is no way, my 70 yr old dad will be climbing in the back to go for a ride, much less to go out to dinner. And I can't imagine any of my friends wives wanting to go to dinner or take a trip having to climb in the back at every stop, they'd just say, well let us drive our SUV instead. So saying the camaro is more practical, is like saying Bill Gates is richer than Warren Buffet...come on the front seats will be used 85% of the time for most of us out there (kids being the exception).

If I weren't buying an SS I would certainly consider a Z. It is very small, that I don't like, it would be a little claustraphobic in there for me, but I think it would be an outstandingly fun car to drive. People who are "hugging" the camaro need to get a grip and realize there ARE cars out there that will be close in performance, price, fun-to-drive factor etc, and the comparisions are FAIR. We made our choice to get a camaro, no reason to need to defend that, we'll all be happy with our cars and people who buy something else will be happy with what they have...Just don't try to race me in your 370Z...because I wont be stock and I WILL blow your doors off, but until then, I'll just have to crack you with my Trailblazer :-)
Why are there so many people out there with the idea that the camaro is just for the drag strip...eh hem... Guys the camaro has a IRS and close to 50/50 wieght distribution so lets use it!! When comparing cars it is Stock vs Stock that matter, and the 370Z avgerages mid 13's in the 1/4 mile, I am betting the Camaro SS will be High 12's and will be damn good in the corners. How can it not be when the sedan it is base off of the G8 GXP (Zeta I) already is very good.

Camaro has better weight distrobution than the Z

A tick over 13.0 sec. and you're through the quarter-mile. It's a rush, of course, but not overly dramatic. Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."

+1 Exactly, The camaro is not really a muscle car, it is infact a modern 2+2 sports car with slightly retroish styling and a Muscle car heritage. Traditional muscle cars back in the 60's for the most part meant going fast in a straight line and terrible at everything else. There were some exceptions like the Z28 which could handle very well for the time. IRS alone breaks away form the traditional muscle car, and I think for the better.

I don't know what the weight distribution is for the Z, but they say the camaro SS will be 52/48 which is really close.

Its possible that there will be some overlap of buyers. I think the SS will be able to go toe to toe with the 370z and probably be able to out run or keep up with it on most any track. Now if you say an autoX circuit then I'll give the odds to the Z.

The Camaro will atract more buyers I think because it's not a two seater no matter how impractical a coupe can be.

It should also be easier to mod a Camaro as the VQ in the Z is probably near it's max while the LS3 in the Camaro is not.
