Sadly the jury is still out on many aspects of the ZL1's performance as well.

Does anyone think that Ford is using the GT500 as its response for the ZR1? (yes ZR1 not Zl1)
I wonder if ford will begin answering Chevy's Corvettes with this car. Granted this wont compare to the ZR1 now but its surely getting there. If the Zl1 comes out as 175 top end and this is 200, that is laughable. I really think this car will be 70-80K |

Still alot of information missing about the new 500. balance? the 500 was always front heavy, now with a bigger motor, more cooling i cant see it being better.

Now this is cool though.
All five of those metrics can be initiated with a virtual drag racing start light, so Mustang drivers can hone their skills off the track. There's also a Brake Performance screen, where 60-0 mph and 100-0 mph stopping distances can be measured. Read more: http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...#ixzz1dmf9U9At |

The GT500 has been compared with base Vettes and occasionally the Z06 off and on since the S197 GT500 arrived in 2007. Needless to say, the GT500 never came close to matching even a base Vette in any of those reviews. With the latest GT500, it might be able to finally best a base C6 stock vs. stock on a road course, but they will end up costing about the same so I guess it is a wash. http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...n/viewall.html http://www.caranddriver.com/comparis...mparison-tests http://www.caranddriver.com/comparis...mparison-tests Those are all older GT500 of course but you get the point. |

Manual Automatic
0 – 60 mph (from rolling start) 4.0 seconds 3.9 seconds 1/4-mile (from a rolling start) 12.1 sec at 119 mph 12.0 sec at 119 mph Top speed 180 mph 184 mph Max lateral grip 1.0 g 1.0 g “With 0 to 60 taking less than four seconds, the acceleration of the ZL1 is just awesome,” said Al Oppenheiser, Camaro chief engineer, “but horsepower is only half of the story. The ZL1’s most significant measurement of performance is lapping the Nurburgring in 7:41.27. That’s astounding for a 2+2 coupe, and a great testament to the acceleration, braking, grip, and balance of the Camaro ZL1. It is the well-rounded performance of the Camaro ZL1 that will set the bar for the sports-car segment.” I think they dropped the ball on the ZL1 and were too busy tying to get porky to handle when they should have concentrated more on performance numbers. The 2013 GT500 will probably handle just as well and be faster. |

OMG The Mustang fanboys are already downing the Corvette ZR-1 and everything! A guy told a Mustang fan that it didnt matter and that the Corvette ZR-1 was still faster than the new Shelby GT500 on a road course and everything this was the Mustang fans response! - Ford simply does not want to waste time on "SLOPPY SECONDS"
like the corvette. Your corvette is simply in a lower class than the Mighty Ford Mustang GT500! This guy must be an idiot the Corvette ZR-1 will still be faster than this new Shelby GT500. The ZR-1 weighs 3,333 and the Shelby weighs 3,850. Even with a 12hp advantage the ZR-1 will win easily.

In the hands of an inexperienced driver, I'd say it would run...into a wall.

I think GM dropped the ball on the development of this car. Their egos got the best of them and they thought they simply could not be beat. Looks like reality bit em in the ass. Give us a car that tops the GT or simply cancel production till they h e all their ducks in a row.
