My favorite part of that video is that for an extra $20,000 and 114 more hp, all you get is 0.1 seconds and a ruined set of rear tires. Like I said in an earlier post, horsepower without grip is just wasted energy. I'd say the big winner when the new GT500 comes out is Pirelli -- because they'll get to sell Mustang owners lots more sets of rear tires.

The ZR1, with over 600 hp and much less weight and better aero wasn't that much faster when you take the length of one lap into account. The 2013 GT500 may be impressive in a straight line, but no one would take it in a fight with the ZR1, so with the same old Mustang lack of technology and refinement, all you're going to get is a lot of wasted energy from the motor. Power means nothing if you can't put it down. Besides, if Ford gets to brag about the Shelby-enhanced Mustang, I'm sure SLP, Lingenfelter, or any of those guys would be more than happy to take on anything Carol Shelby or Jack Roush can crap out. If its the best car that rolls out of Dearborn vs the best car that rolls out of Oshawa, I'll take GM everytime.
I don't know how many times it has to be said: the GT500 rolls out of Dearborn. It does not go to Shelby for enhancement. It cannot in any way, shape, or form be compared to aftermarket tuner cars like SLP or Lingenfelter.

I think the SLP cars are fair game, they work with GM pretty close. They have a relationship a lot like AMG and Benz. SLP far more than a tuner or marketing division.

Right now the ZL1 is the Living Legend and just cleaned house with Boss 302.
Ooohhh, I had no idea! GB, when did you take delivery of your ZL1 convertible?

While your intent is noble 2ndCamaro79, GB has demonstrated many times he does not need anyone defending him. Based on your other posts, maybe he should offer to help you out in creating post with substance than simply empty bravado.. Your posts are giving the site a huge black eye for the most part.

I'd take the Boss 302 versus the ZL1 in a 350 mile race. Not only would the ZL1 need to pit for fuel multiple times versus the Boss, I doubt it would be able to keep a consistent pace for that long. It's a known fact that S/C'd cars are going to heat soak much more than an n/a motor and that means it will get slower over time.

Look, the ZL1 is a great product and currently sets the bar for modern pony/muscle car performance, I'm in no way trying to take anything away from it, but the idea that it is somehow God's gift to motorsports makes me laugh to no end. It's not, nor is the Boss 302 nor is the GT500. Some of you rant to put a cape on it and call it Superman!

SLP cars ARE NOT (entirely) made by GM. GT500s are entirely made by Ford. End of story.

WHAT'S LEFT TO SAY. THE ZL1 BLEW THE DOORS OFF OF THE TOP BOSS RACE CAR. FACTS ARE FACTS. I DON'T KNOW WHAT ALL THE ARGUMENT IS ABOUT.

You have to admit,a naturally aspirated lil 302ci powered car keeping up and running only 3 tenths and 3 mph behind a 6.2liter supercharged beast is very very impressive !!!

I especially like the rear seat delete, roll cage, and the fact it is underrated and weighs hundreds of less pounds. But since you want to just compare numbers... I forgot, who beat the best mustang to date? Oh yeah, ZL1, my bad. I can't believe I am being drawn into this dhammit.

Dittos on the Modern Cyborg Warhorse! IF only the naysayers might have had that said about them instead of how their latest greatest of all time mustangs was a Generation Behind!
