Tires and rims for the track

I am getting the car ready for racing this season. We put a Cam in the car with usually bolt ons. I am add a converter and 3,73 rear. I was wondering what rim size and tires you guys are running. I heard that I can get an 18 or 17 on the car. Can you give an idea of the tire and rollout you think I should run.

Check out my 18x9 TSW's with 305 MT DR's in my Build Journal.

1.605 sixties with bolt-ons + cam. 1.654 sixties with just bolt-ons.

I hit the button until I see both lights on the dash go on. It takes about 7 seconds or so.
Being at the track I was both surprised at the cars ability to shift quick and the difficulty of finding that sweet spot for the 60 ft.

The auto is probably a bit easier but the fun of rowing through the gears had me enjoying the car more than my racecar!

Okay guys and gals I need some advice...

I have an L99 with Kooks Stepped Headers.CAI CAI w/scoop, and a JRE Tune. dyno'd at about 370whp/wtq. First time out was a few weeks ago and I ran a 13.1 at 109 with the stock Perellis. I couldn't get any traction in 1 or 2. all the nannies turned off and my 60ft were 2.1

Conditions: ~60* and 1200ft above sea level

So here come the changes:
Changed the MAF to a "strong" one (no retune)
Added Pfadt Subframe bushings, rear trailing arms, toe rods, front and rear sways, and differential bushings.
ZL1 fuel pump(no retune. This was prep work for the blower sitting in my garage)
Replica wheels matted to NT05R at 30 psi

Conditions last night: 75* and 1200ft above sea level

I got the Nittos nice and hot and with all the nannies turned off the best I could do is 13.4 at 106. Im not noticing any wheel spin and my 60ft times are around 2.3.

Do you think the temperature would play that much of a difference?! I was seriously hoping to be in the 12's with those Nittos.

I'm also thinking I need to be tuned again since I changed the pump and the MAF.

I guess it could always be track conditions... But I don't know! I need your help!!!

Your sways killed you. Disconnect the front and try again.

Been there, done that.

Also, consider a tune, because something may have changed between the MAF and the fuel pump. It shouldn't, but you never know.

Your DA between the two runs was about 800-1000 feet more. It would have some effect, but not 3mph. Main thing is your sixty, which the sways are killing (I believe).

As Padre mentioned.
Your 60' is killing you. You need to get your 60' down in the 1.9x range running the stock tires. That will get you down in the high 12s.

To launch - Do a brake stall (1K rpm), and then roll slowly into the gas to launch. That slow roll into the gas will give your tires a chance to grip.

About Temp. Based on my track experience you'll run about .1 slower for every 10 degree increase in temperature. That's just a rough average, but its pretty close.
So you'll run about .3 faster on a 60 degree day vs. a 90 degree day.
