Waiting on the better pictures my wife took, but here are a few from the shark fishing trip. I had the "hold harness handle" job when people were fighting the sharks so I don't have a ton of pics on my phone. I landed a great ~260 pound blue shark and wife has it on video. We were using a kite to fish a mackeral on the surface in our chum slick:

Well I have been hamstrung at work for the past 2 weeks and last Saturday I rolled the car out to clean her up and apply new wax. But the MONSTER Bee/Hornet's invasion on the awning near the garage had me rolling the car right back in.

Called the local service here for removal and all is well now, no more flying attackers, but WOW my Black Camaro is dirty/dusty.

Took Friday off, will dedicate the whole day to a thorough wash, wax and interior detail. Should be fun!

Pics later that day.

After debate about a winter car, I just feel strongly that I can't be 5-6 months without Christine.

Today at Tirerack.com with great help from Rudy I bought:
-Set of Sport Edition WX5 Wheels 19 inch 8.5 width
-Set of Bridgetsone Blizzak DM-V1 tires 235/55R19

I should be all set for the polar vortex as it's already getting cold here in Massachusetts. Unreal.

I went through your whole Journal. I own a V6 and have to put her through the snow. I look forward to seeing how you do with your V8 in the snow. Looking to upgrade next year.

Congrats on your winter solution. I will be very interested to read your reaction with the Blizzaks in snow. Just remember the 45 degree rule!

Meanwhile, I am still shopping for the winter vehicle and getting a bit frustrated. I may lower my sights from what I want to what momma thinks is more sensible and also a winter driver for my daughter who has to commute downtown everyday to law school. This means Tahoe>Honda CRV. Oh well, I have to keep reminding myself I do have the Camaro.

Keep those little white straps away from your car. They scratch paint quite nicely.

Hey darlin'!

Had my first oil change and got the rear end fluid checked, everything looks good.

Have some Collinite 845 coming in to protect the car this winter.

How you doing?

I had today off. Went to the movies early on (saw "Gone Girl", pretty good but maybe I should not have read the book beforehand...) and then it was time to prep the Camaro for Winter protection.

I decided to go with Collinite 845 for the paint protection. It comes highly recommended and after some research I felt it gave me the most piece of mind and somewhat easy application.

I first washed the car with Adams Car Shampoo spiked with ~1 ounce of Dawn blue dish soap to strip the old wax. I did two washes and a really long final rinse. I did not see the beading or sheeting anymore so I figured the wax was gone.

Dried car immediately with the "Dry Me Crazy" towels and if you don't have these then you just don't know.

I kept the Collinite 845 in warm water because it's very pasty if you don't warm it up before use and it can cake up. Mix well and change the warm water a few times while application is going on.

I did a "heavy" coating and allowed the product to sit for 15 minutes per section. Wiped down with microfiber towels.

Impressions:
-Excellent shine, I was pretty blown away. I had read this stuff was not as good a finish as other products but the car is glowing.
-Surface is unreal slick at this point, just glassy and teflon like. Should keep crap off the car.
-Overall not hard to apply, just do the warm water trick.

Happy I got it done. Not happy winter is coming.

Pictures:
1. The product
2. My setup
3. Maybe can see the glaze on the hood before wipe down

Been waiting for an update before I bought this! I'm confused on heating the wax. From my understanding you pour the wax on the applicator and apply it to the car. How do you heat it?
