Rick... I got yours done. I just need to test it out tomorrow and verify everything. I have another harness I need to do tomorrow so, I'll ship both out Saturday.

Would it be easier to install the PDIM and the controls at once and have them update both at once?

Savage... most definitely. I would also print stuff out to make it ABUNDANTLY clear to the techs that you need to repgram BOTH the BCM and the RADIO. The guy who did mine was clueless and thought that updating the BCM for the steering wheel controls would also take care of the PDIM. That is NOT the case. The PDIM takes like 3 minutes to do. All they do is update your account so that it's in your profile that you have a PDIM. They then update your radio and it enables your PDIM. I'm not sure how long it takes to reprogram the BCM since I wasn't there for that. If they try and tell you that it's going to take an hour to do each that is BULLSHIT. I watched the guy do the PDIM. It's a 10 minute max job, including hooking up the tech2 tool to the computer.

As for a write-up of modding your own steering wheel harness, that's a can do and I plan on doing that. You're still going to need the connector that plugs into the switch though and the sockets that go into that connector and the main connector. The price I'm asking for a harness is AMAZINGLY reasonable so, people have just been getting a harness from me. I have 6 sets of connectors ready to build harnesses with. Does anybody else have interest in one? I could also offer to sell kits to mod your own harness. This option would also be reasonably priced. If anybody is interested in either option please PM me for a price.

There are two Bluetooth receivers in the car.

1. Bluetooth in Onstar module for hands free phone
2. Bluetooth in PDIM for wireless music streaming

OK, so to get my own cell phone paired will I need anything extra after the PDIM install and steering wheel controls? I plan to do a bit of "upscaling" my 1LT. I just want to make sure I account for everything I need.

Your cell should pair with the PDIM just fine. Just remember that you can only use the bluetooth to play music and not make calls. If you don't care about that option then you should be good to go with the upgrades you've chosen.

SlickRick... the post office lady said you should get your harness by Tuesday but, I don't have the greatest of faith in the post offices's delivery estimations. My guess is you'll get it Wednesday but, we'll see I guess.

no problemo... let me know when the harness comes in. I included a couple zip ties as well. You'll see when you remove the old harness that it's fastened down by a couple zip ties. It's not essential to do that but, figured I'd include them just the same. When you do the install, just follow the directions on page 1 of this thread.
